Listener Opinions

" Good book, bring back James Marsters to read for Cold Days! "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Justin Cooper | 2/9/2014

" I think this might be my favorite Harry Dresden story. Harry has always been a very human hero with all the faults and fancies that come with that. In this story, we see that most of all. He is dead and now a spirit, stripped of his powers and charged with saving his friends. It was quite intense, watching him come to grips with this and with the consequences of choices that he made. I wait raptly for the opportunity to read the next book in the series. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Emma Thomas | 2/5/2014

" I wasn't sure when I first started this, Harry couldn't do magic! And (poor english I know) what about the other charachers? But I soon got into it. This book answered a lot of questions from the series and really felt that is was a end. As I know Jim is releasing the next book in October I knew it wouldn't be. There were clues as to where Dresden would go next... will have to wait and see. I missed Mouse though... "

" Glad to see Harry with soul-able to reflect on his motivs, notice his feelings, and raise up a few of the lost. Probably wont last through, the next book, but adds a little depth to an enjoyable if shallow series "

" I listened to Ghost Story as an audio book. Jim Butcher includes a lot of backstory in his books so even though I have skipped around in this series I was never lost. This was a good addition to the series. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Jordan | 1/16/2014

" Review to come, will be rereading shortly. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Barbara | 1/14/2014

" Not as good as Changes. Since Changes is easily the best in the Dresden series, that's okay. The series as a whole has steadily gotten better since the first few. I do get a little tired of the Star Wars/Star Trek, X Men, Tom and Jerry references. A little goes a long way with that stuff! Have always liked Harry's moral compass, though. Like the follow through of all that happens, the law of unintended consequences, the complexity, the harsh realities that underlie all the fantasy. Which is why I will stop everything to read Cold Days whenever it comes out. Long live Harry. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Danielle | 11/23/2013

" I love this series. This one had a bit of a different angle than the other books (see book title!). Mr. Butcher wrapped it up well, and as always, I cannot wait to devour the next book. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Gedvondur | 11/16/2013

" Not as good as Changes, but does bring fresh material to the series. Between Changes and Ghost Story, the setting has changed a lot and that's good. Things were getting a bit repetitive and stale. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Mei | 11/5/2013

" I can't believe I left this off my list. I also can't remember when I read it. But I'm sure it was freaking awesome, just like all the Dresden files books are freaking awesome. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Rustin Petrae | 1/21/2013

" I think this one definitely one of my favorite books out of the Dresden series. The entire story kept drawing me back in and of course, and everything really ties into the previous books and the ongoing story extremely well. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Steven Taylor | 9/1/2012

" I enjoyed the book, but found it more a pause in the Dresden story than I wanted. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Sarah | 8/24/2012

" I'm both sad and relieved to be done. And really happy there will be a new book in the series later this year. That will give me time to recuperate, and something to look forward to. I think I may celebrate finishing the series by re-watching Star Wars. Or Lord of the Rings. Or both. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Wayne | 7/21/2012

" I was a bit off reading this book to begin with as I didn't like how the lost book ended. Then I got about half way though and really started to enjoy it by the end of the book I was pre-ordering the next novel of the series. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Vuk Prlainović | 6/13/2012

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Amy | 11/8/2011

" Butcher is a reliable good time and a fast, comfortable read. If you haven't read the others, don't start with this one. If you've been keeping up with the serial then you've probably already read it. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 B | 11/5/2011

" Each book gets more sophisticated. I can't say enough about how good this author is. This book will throw more and more of what you think you know out the window. And you'll love every minute of it. If you haven't read him, start, now! "
