About the Authors

Sarah Horne learned to draw whilst trying to explain her reasoning for an elaborate haircut at the age of nine. An illustrator for over fifteen years, she started her illustration career working for newspapers such as the Guardian and the Independent On Sunday. Sarah has since illustrated many funny young fiction titles and loves to include hilarious details in her work. She works traditionally with a dip pen and Indian ink, and finishes the work digitally. When not at her desk, Sarah loves running, painting, photography, cooking, film, and a good stomp up the hill.

She likes writing about everything from guinea pigs to fairy godmothers, cats with attitude and evil geniuses. She recently completed the Certificate in Novel Writing course at City University. Writing is her passion (along with chocolate cake) and her ambition is to be nominated for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize one day. She lives in central London and Scotland with her husband, four children, and overfed cat, Henry (after Henry the Eighth).

Amanda Swift studied modern languages at Oxford University but spent most of her time acting in plays. She worked as an actress for many years, including stints at the Polka Children’s Theatre in Wimbledon and in television commercials. She then worked as a writer for radio and television. She has worked on the television series My Parents Are Aliens and 24Seven. She is now a team writer on Sclub Junior. She lives in Southeast London with her partner, two sons, and several frogs.
