Publisher Description

Nothing is as it seems.

Frey’s life is a lie. She doesn’t remember being bound from magic. She didn’t intend to discover this dangerous secret, to get entangled in Council business. But she did.

And now she’s on the run.

With the aid of a stranger, she discovers a world beyond the elves who bound her. But it’s a world of shadows and dark magic, a world she’s been warned not to trust. The farther she strays, the more she finds a forgotten past. As she fights to reclaim her true identity, Council trackers hunt her down.

If they find her, she will burn.

The stranger offers her a way out, but it’s a path of no return. How do you know who to believe when you don’t even know who you are?

"I enjoyed reading Frey. It was different from others and I liked unexpected turns and characters in the book. Although I felt Chevelle remained too mysterious I wanted more from him. I would get Pieces of Eight soon and hope to find more about Chevelle."

" I enjoyed the book but it seemed to building up to something 95% of the book, and when the battle finally happens we completely miss it. Then it ends with me not knowing what the heck happened because of all the black outs Frey has. Lots of secrets and not much info given on Frey or to her. I will have to read book 2 to see if all the holes in the story are filled in any. I hope that was authors goal...and all the missing info from book 1 is revealed. "

" I gotta say I was disappointed with this book. I was often lost and confused. I had a hard time finishing it because it bored me. I'm going to read the next book only because I hate starting a series and not finisihing it. "

" This was a good book, high in action and entertainment. The reason for 3 stars instead of 4? I was frustrated throughout because the main character's role plays a part that is very confused. But not only could you tell that she was confused, it led to ME being confused... which was frustrating. In the second book I will give 4 stars because the writing got easier to follow, even with the confusion. But, even with the main character's confusion, at times I found it hard to believe that a sane person would go through her situation and NOT demand answers. She was more believable in the second and now third books. It was good, enough for me to enjoy and read in two days, and go to the next book. I would recommend this for someone who likes to read about elves and fairies and wants a fast paced, full of action story :) "

" I was rather confused with the story as it progressed. The only thing that was clear was the beginning. Her past present and possible future is like looking through muddy water. It took so much time for me to finish the story I hope the next one is more clearer. "

" I tried, but after 71 pages, I could not even fathom finishing this book. The main character had me pulling my hair out. She was whiny and did atrocious things without remorse. I will not finish this book or any of the others in this series. "

" A pleasant read. Although sometimes the fact that our main character is so often in the dark about herself can be a bit tedious, she is likable enough to read past it. I enjoyed the book and will be moving on to the next in the series. "

" Started reading this book, and over a period if 2 weeks tried to finish it, but just never could. It wasn't terrible, just terribly boring. Maybe at some point ill continue to try and eventually finish it. Until then, its been a waste if time and money. "
