The war between good and evil has raged for millennia, but now evil is winning, and The Marked Souls are caught in the middle.
Liam Niall never wanted to be a leader, but after surviving the horrors of the Irish potato famine, he found himself possessed by a demon in search of redemption. Now, he heads the Chicago talyan in their fight against evil, though he grows weary and plagued by self doubt. Then he meets Jilly Chan. She's a mentor to local homeless youth and waging a one-woman war against the drug-dealing slime that preys upon her charges. She's already half-taken by a demon, so Liam reluctantly tries to guide her into full power. Even as the proudly independent Jilly struggles to remain true to her own soul, Liam's fiercely passionate touch soon leaves a mark of desire on her flesh as enduring as her new demon tattoo.

"This series is very inventive but it can be somewhat depressing. I keep reading hoping someone will get a happy ending. I don't want light hearted but I would like some happiness. It seems even when they find their mates they roof is falling in and they don't get a chance to enjoy life in the least."

" The fight continues with a new demon added to the mix. "
— Maria, 1/18/2014" I liked the worldbuilding in the first book and was looking forward to more after a good strong start. Sadly, this second entry is a rewrite of book one. Same story, remarkably similar hero/heroine, same villain, same quest, same conclusion. I doubt I'll go forward with the series. "
— Diana, 12/28/2013" Liked the second book better...characters started coming together...and there were a few more intimate scenes...but can still use more. Plot was well written...now I definitely want to move on to book 3! "
— Lily, 11/13/2013" Loved it really enjoying this series so far 10/10 "
— Rebecca, 11/7/2012" Book 2 of the Marked Souls something or other. Hunky Irish dude. Tough little Asian chick. Match made in demon hell. I'll probably pick up the 3rd book. These aren't going to change your life but they'll probably entertain you on the beach if you're into paranormal romance. "
— Jen, 9/1/2012" ok read, more of an action than a romance "
— Gem, 9/10/2011" A truly worthy follow-up to a fantastic debut. Recommend for those who enjoy Larissa Ione's books. The only problem is, now I have to wait until April for the next one. "
— Ann, 2/25/2011" This author is such a smart writer. Her characters are endearing, the world she creates so real. My hat is off to Jessa Slade for another fabulous read. Can't wait for the next one. "
— Susan, 11/28/2010" pretty good book if a little farfeteched on the romance angle. "
— Michelle, 7/29/2010Jessa Slade spent her childhood chore money on science fiction and fantasy novels. Then she discovered romances, and the die was cast. Though a hopeless cynic, she secretly believes the flow of the universe can be positively altered by a well-told love story.
