Kate Egan, editorial director of KCP Loft, has edited children’s and YA books for more than twenty years. Authors she’s worked with include Cynthia Lord, Tamora Pierce, and Suzanne Collins. Jeff Brown (1926–2003) was a magazine editor and short-story writer who created the beloved character Flat Stanley as a bedtime story for his sons. He wrote many books about the star of the perpetually popular series, including Flat Stanley, Stanley and the Magic Lamp, Invisible Stanley, Stanley’s Christmas Adventure, Stanley in Space, and Stanley, Flat Again! Born in New York City, Jeff was a story editor and assistant film producer in Hollywood, worked on the editorial staffs of the New Yorker and the Saturday Evening Post, and was a senior editor at Warner Books.
