Publisher Description

For Parker, the amoral super-thief extraordinaire, it will be an excellent haul. The fact that the lead came from his old partners in crime, Elkins and Wiss, is no impediment to his joining their team and going for the score. The goods are a bunch of paintings by Old Masters kept out of sight in a dot-com billionaire's Montana lodge for his personal delight. The billionaire, Paxton Marino, has plenty of built-in high-tech security, so they've got their own systems geek, Lloyd, to defeat the electronic safeguards.

Naturally, in a Parker novel, no heist goes off without a hitch, and a federal agent investigating Marino's original art thefts gets involved, but that's the least of Parker's problems. As usual, betrayal and revenge are the order of the day.

"My first Parker, but certainly not the last. I used to think that no one could write tighter crime prose than Ellroy, but after reading this, I'm not so sure. So lean and brutal, it's almost existential. Perfect winter city book."

" Parker on an art heist. Again. And it turns out SO much better than the last time. I loved the stuff with Cosmopolitan, and the art heist itself is a great action piece. One of my favorite Parkers. "

" It's worth the same as about 2 episodes of the Wire and takes about as long to read. And that is a good thing!! "

" A mid-table Parker and therefore a pretty good read; I thought that juggling the multiple sub-plots felt like something Parker would resist doing (and certainly not tolerate in others). "
