After breaking off her engagement, thirty-something writing professor Andi Cutrone abandons New England for her native Long Island to focus on her career and start over. When she meets Devin at a cocktail party, the sight of an honest-to-goodness male escort shocks her—and fascinates her more than a little. Months later, Andi impulsively calls Devin. Over cheesecake in Brooklyn, she offers him a proposition: he will teach her how to be a better lover, and in return, she will give him writing lessons. He agrees, and together they embark upon an intense partnership that proves to be as instructive as it is arousing. For in the midst of lessons in rhetorical theory and foreplay, Andi and Devin delve into deeper questions about truth, beauty, and self, gradually coming face-to-face with the issues at the core of their emotional limitations. Smart, witty, and introspective, Faking It is an engrossing novel about two people discovering their authentic selves.

"I bought this book based solely on the great reviews and price of course, and was pleasantly surprised and even cheery after completing the book. I was really swept into Andi's character right away, and I chuckled quite a few times out loud during reading this book in one foul swoop. I love the aspect of self discovery of the two main characters Andi and Dev, and the plot was out of the ordinary(from typical books) which was even better. I highly recommend this light and pleasant read."

“Elisa Lorello has delivered a very well written story that any woman can appreciate. It’s got breakup scenes, the revenge meeting after losing weight, the ability to enjoy sex without self-conscious fear, and the promise of a real, loving relationship. I connected with it on every level.
— bestromancestories.com" Good read. The characters are much more developed then expected. Unexpected ending. "
— Nora, 2/16/2014" Another refreshing break from my serial urban fantasy/paranoramal streak. Provocative title and book description - it starts out as an easy, tantalizing "summer-like" read. In the end, I was delighted it had more depth & intellect than it let on in the beginning. What are you "Faking"? The innuendo is more than it seems...don't judge this book (or it's characters) by it's cover. "
— Dascha, 1/30/2014" Not sure how I feel about this book...maybe Sex and the City type plot?? Hmmmm...just not sure... "
— Kelly, 1/27/2014" I bought this on amazon for .99. This was mildly entertaining, but a little too chic lit. It was also much racier/trashier than books I usual read. That said, I read it in a few hours. "
— Stacy, 1/24/2014" Wow! I loved this book so much! This is just a beutiful story about finding yourself and getting real. I couldnt put it down. Very highly recommened. "
— Jennefer, 1/22/2014" What a surprise this book was! It had a cute storyline and was a quick read. While it has an adult theme, it was not explicit. Thoroughly enjoyed this book! "
— Paula, 1/18/2014" A good beach read if you want something that you don't have to focus too much on. I breezed through it but can't say that it captivated me in any real way. A good light hearted read. "
— Julie, 1/7/2014" I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and the story. Not your typical romance novel which was nice. "
— Kanella, 1/7/2014" I love this book! What a wonderful love story.... Two different worlds coming together! "
— Cynthia, 12/19/2013" I was so ticked at the ending, but I guess the author didn't want to be cliche'. It definitely held my attention and was more entertaining than I expected. "
— Shante', 12/9/2013" overall it was a good story but the ending erked me and left me feeling cheated. "
— Amanda, 12/5/2013" Forget the horrible title as it's not an erotica. Instead it's a very well done study of a relationship that begins a little unorthodoxly. The reader watches as the relationship unfolds its petals: I found myself as committed as the two main characters. "
— Lee, 11/28/2013" An easy read that is not all that well written, but the story line is interesting enough: a woman coming into her own sexually. a late-bloomer, coming of age type novel. It was decent and mildly entertaining, but nothing to write home about. "
— Christine, 10/20/2013" I actually quite enjoyed this chick-lit, although technically my rating would be 3.5 stars. "
— Stefanie, 10/11/2013" A fun, easy read, would be a great beach read. "
— Wendy, 9/2/2013" It was a cute, quick read. I'm not sure if I would ever have read it if I hadn't just gotten my Kindle! "
— Leanniam, 7/6/2013" Not as predictable as I thought, but still just kind of eh. Nothing really kept me reading except for the hope it was almost over. "
— Abby, 6/14/2013" It was a fast read, and a guilty pleasure. Mind fluff. "
— Colleen, 4/27/2013" This was an entertaining light read that I finished in a day. The parts about writing theory were a little boring but overall a good read "
— Cameronne, 4/10/2013" Loved this book. Not what I expected.....WAY better!!!!! "
— Tracey, 4/6/2013" I was surprised by this story - not at all what I was expecting, but I was really happy with how it played out. "
