Publisher Description

Thirty-year-old Daisy DiStefano has two people she holds dear: the grandmother who raised her, and her three-year-old son, Elliott. But when Daisy’s grandmother is killed, Daisy must take steps to protect herself and her child. Thirty-six-year-old Brooks McClain has returned home to spend what little time his mother has left before she succumbs to a deadly disease. The seasoned investigative reporter has taken a position with the local newspaper and been on the job less than twenty-four hours when he’s summoned to cover the death of Pauline Thorpe. Brooks is all business, but the more time he spends with Daisy, the more invested he becomes. And when the unthinkable happens, Brooks will do whatever it takes to clear the name of the woman he’s fallen for and the child he’ll protect at any cost.

About the Narrators

Kristin Condon began dancing from a young age. She later found her niche onstage after her family moved to Massachusetts and she began studying and performing with Boston Ballet and Ballet Theatre of Boston. Dancing eventually led her to acting and an MFA from the University of Southern California and beyond. Kristin’s first movie role was in Being John Malkovich, in which she played a ballet dancer—not a huge stretch! She has since gone on to appear in several films and TV shows, and has recorded several audiobooks including Ashlynn’s Dreams by Julie Gilbert and Zac and Mia by AJ Betts.

Chris Patton has narrated over seventy-five audiobooks. His voice can be heard narrating such titles as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the dystopian juggernaut Yesterday’s Gone, Clive Barker’s Books of Blood series, and two titles by Joyce Carol Oates. Chris began his career in theater at age ten, and his voice-over career at twenty-nine. Since then, he has voiced over two hundred anime titles, numerous commercials and e-learning and industrial projects, and several video games. He’s also fronted a synthpop band called Paul Lynde Is Dead, written a teen urban fantasy about an emo vampire called Scene Immortal, and has appeared as a special guest at more than eighty-five pop-culture conventions.

R. C. Bray is an award-winning audiobook narrator with over 180 titles to his credit. Besides winning five AudioFile Earphones Awards, he won the prestigious Audie Award in 2015 for Best Science Fiction Narration and has been an Audie Award finalist seven times. He has been a finalist for the Voice Arts Award, and in 2014, his narration earned a Publishers Weekly Listen-Up Award. He is also an accomplished producer and voice-over artist, and his voice can be heard in countless TV and radio commercials.
