“There are questions like that. Questions that must never be asked. Subjects that must never be brought up.”
Time passes slowly in the hotel rooms. This is what the daughter thinks. They’ve been moving since the beginning, in and out of hotels, sometimes staying for months, sometimes for a mere hour, but never with luggage, heavy things weighing them down. The mother and daughter are singular, a “Moon Unit,” revolving so far away that no one can touch them. They form attachments to no one, not the pool boy who watches the daughter swim for hours, nor the girl at the front desk who counts the moments she sees the daughter as little good luck charms for her day. They are bound together with a secret language, the beautiful girl loved solely by her mother, who will never ever ever leave her side.
Prize-winning Turkish novelist and journalist Perihan Magden delivers a heartbreaking meditation on the intense and sometimes isolated love between a mother and daughter against the world.

"An incredible insight into being born into Scientology. Jenna Miscavige Hill's account is fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Worth a read. I would suggest reading "Inside Scientology" first - it is a journalistic account of the whole history of Scientology."

" This book kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Scientology is such a mysterious organization. I am still in shock over what this book says about Scientology and the way they treat their members. Fascinating read. "
— Sheryl, 2/20/2014" Read almost like a science fiction novel "
— Andrew, 2/14/2014" Well written and an interesting perspective. "
— Kevin, 2/13/2014" I liked this a lot. The author was very matter-of-fact, which made everything she said even more believable and horrific. "
— Katie, 2/11/2014" Incredible book. Shocking! "
— Melanie, 1/22/2014" It's unfortunate I guess that Jenna Miscavige Hill is such a TERRIBLE writer, because her story is SO CRAZY. Obviously it's not entirely her fault since she never went to school and was raised and brained washed by CRAZY PEOPLE in a cult, but arghhhhh nonetheless. Getting through this book was a task, at points I personally felt like I was being brainwashed myself at how tedious and monotonous it was, but I will say that I did learn a whole lot of Scientology CRAZY TALK which hopefully will someday be valuable in my life (unlikely). It's really mind blowing to me that all of what she describes actually happened not all that long ago and within the United States because it honestly makes you feel like she is some alien living on another planet or a different reality altogether. If you're curious about scientology (which my book club was this month) then I'd read this but otherwise don't bother. "
— Nora, 1/21/2014" Really well written book and fascinating insider's perspective. "
— Bronwen, 1/20/2014" SO interesting! Very good autobiography thats almost unbelievable. If you're at all interested in Scientology, this is a great one to read "
— Devon, 1/10/2014" Fantastic narrative about Jenna's insane childhood, raised within Scientology and her escape. "
— Christian, 12/30/2013" I had always been curious about Scientology and this book sure gives an incredible insight into the Scientology world. What a scary yet interesting read! "
— Jan, 11/23/2013" A quick and interesting read. As much as I want to believe it 100% I read it with a grain of salt! "
— Robin, 11/17/2013" This story is crazy and even though it's not the most beautifully-written book I've ever read, Jenna's story is incredible, as is her resolve for justice. "
— Ashleigh, 8/3/2013" I don't typically read lots of memoirs, but I've always had an interest in different religions. This was very interesting, and read more like fiction because of the craziness that the author went through. "
— Lindsey, 7/29/2013" A very daring and honest look at Scientology from a former insider. "
— Erin, 7/27/2013" Very interesting, so glad I was not raised to follow blindly. "
— Seana, 6/26/2013" So good. I couldn't put it down. Once I finished it gives you the feeling that someone's watching you. It's crazy that this is really what goes on. "
— Jenna, 4/6/2013" Jiminy Christmas... I still keep thinking to myself, "None of this can be real." "
— Carrie, 1/6/2013" All I wanted was an in-depth explanation of Scientology and to see the words "Tom" and "Cruise" somewhere. This book really needed some editing. "
— Jo-Nell, 1/2/2013" Wow! I couldn't believe what this girl went through. Definitely an eye-opening experience to read this book! "
— Jasmine, 12/28/2012" Incredible and SHOCKING revelation on the inner workings of scientology. A really good read, although the Lisa Pulitzer could have had more of a hand in editing sentence structure, as Jenna Miscavige is not much of a writer. "
— Kelly, 12/15/2012" Fascinating, heartbreaking, impossible, unbelievable, shocking; very challenging to read about abuse of children by their parents, and by a 'church'. Still an interesting phenomenon, the Church of Scientology has a few more layers peeled back for the public to see with this 'tell all'. "
