Author Dixy Lee Ray

Dixy Lee Ray (1914–1994) was a marine biologist. In 1973 she was appointed by Richard Nixon to chair the US Atomic Energy Commission, and was the first and only woman to do so. She was elected governor of Washington in 1976.
