October 1945: The Germans and Japanese have surrendered. For Cletus Frade and his colleagues in the OSS, it should be time to pack up—but they have far more important things to do.
Chief among them is the protection of their assets, especially the human ones. In the closing months of the war, the United States made a secret deal with the head of German intelligence’s Soviet section. In exchange for a treasure trove of intelligence—in particular the identity of the Soviet spies in the U.S. atomic bomb program—his people would be spirited to safety in Argentina. Only a handful of people know about it. If word got out, all hell would break loose, and the U.S. would lose some of its most valuable sources and secrets.
Meanwhile, in Argentina, a U-boat captain pops up out of the blue and surrenders his submarine and crew. And in the American Zone of Occupation in Germany, a young counterintelligence agent pursues an unusual assignment perhaps a little too vigorously. The consequences of both actions will affect not only Frade and company, but everything they’re working on.
Now things are really going to get complicated.
Filled with the special flair that Griffin’s fans have come to expect from him, Empire and Honor is another rousing adventure from one of our finest storytellers.

"I really enjoyed this, whereas the previous books #5 &6 were slower. This one was an enjoyable read. We got some new characters, a great plot, and a cliffhanger. I love this series. At times, the writing does get tedious, (when recapping previous books), or in the German vernacular, but this was a well written story that kept my attention. I am eager for the next in the series. Hope it comes soon!!"

" Lt. Col. Frade has some interesting post WWII intel operations with his "little brother." Good stuff. "
— Stan, 1/29/2014" This is really much better then the reviews. I suspect the others that rated this book poorly did not read the preliminary books in order. Otherwise I can see that you might be missing a lot and did not get the character development. Overall the story is pretty good and some nice dialogue. "
— Brett, 1/18/2014" I have yet to read a W.E.B. Griffin book that I didn't like. They're all outstanding!! "
— Indrid, 1/11/2014" Typical Griffin: Magnificent character development and dialog. Great cliffhanger. "
— Tim, 1/4/2014" Thought I was tired of reading these but was surprised to find I still enjoyed it. Had to write the web site contact though as they referred to the University of the South as Suwanee which is a river instead of Sewanee, the correct spelling. I'm sure they love us readers to do that. "
— Bill, 1/3/2014" I didn't get a chance to finish this book, but I don't think I'm missing much. I don't have much of an opinion about the story because I spent all my time trying to keep track of all the characters. "
— Chris, 1/1/2014" While this is formulaic, it is a fun read, a real guilty pleasure. If you have read any of WEB Griffin's books you will know what to expect. "
— happy, 12/28/2013" More of the same (in a good way) Griffins. Delightful! "
— Joe, 12/24/2013" I always eagerly await W.E.B. Griffin's latest and this one did not disappoint me. As always there are several intertwined plot lines and not all of them are resolved at the end. Clearly, Clete Frade will be back (or at least I hope he will!) "
— Pat, 12/21/2013" So this is guilty pleasure reading. Romance novels for men. Formulaic but fun. For what it is, it's a decent example of the genre. I did indeed enjoy it and felt slightly guilty thereafter. "
— Bob, 12/15/2013" 2/3 of this novel is interesting and well written. As for the other third, it's so trite that I couldn't wait to get through it. This is no more than an average story for Mr. Griffin and is a bit of a letdown. 6 of 10 stars "
— Tim, 12/10/2013" A good book and an excellent read. Griffin introduces new characters and "grows" them right before your eyes. This whole series is worth reading from the beginning. I sincerely hope Griffin has enough material to continue this series with another book or two. "
— Bob, 12/8/2013" I totally enjoy this series of books, and manage to ignore the German spelling and grammar errors. I've found, though, that I'm going to have to discontinue listening to the audiobook versions between reading sessions. Somehow, the mispronunciations rub me the wrong way. "
— Glenn, 12/6/2013" W.E.B Griffins latest. Just a continuation of the story. You should read this series from the start! "
— Scott, 10/18/2013" a spy thriller set in argentina just at the end of WWII as the OSS is disbanded and before the CIA is founded. latest in the series. good story but right wing slant. beginning of the communist mania and cold war. also involves the flight of nazis to argentina. "
— Michele, 10/13/2013" These books are how I look into right-wing thinking. Good to fall asleep with, while getting a little "history?" "
— Bonnie, 9/16/2013" Another great WWII page turner which gave me great perspective on Argentina's role in that war a d a created u derstanding about Juan Peron and those surrounding him. "
— Lou, 8/30/2013" NOT one of my favorite books by WEB Griffin...drags a bit in the middle...and leaves you HANGING at the end. "
— Christopher, 4/19/2013" I really like the charachters, including the latest one....Jimmy. I'm not sure I liked the abrupt ending to this book. "
— Marilyn, 3/24/2013" Good continuation of the series. "
— Peter, 3/23/2013" Griffin's books are a guilty pleasure but this isn't his best. I think as his son gets more involved the stories should pick up. "
— Mike, 3/12/2013" Continuation of the Honor series with events taking place after end of WWII and beginning of Cold War. Abrupt ending leaves open the possibility of more sequels. "
— Ron, 1/24/2013" Another page-turning thriller from the father & son team. More to come, no doubt starring new hero Jimmy... "
