Award-winning author Shelby Hearon, an adept observer and commentator on human nature, focuses on the joys and sorrows of family relationships. Her latest success in marrying style to subject is Ella in Bloom, a novel exploring how it's never too late to make peace with yourself and with others. Terrell has asked her sister, Ella, to conceal her adulterous affair from the family. When Terrell dies in a plane crash just hours later en route to meet her lover, the lie takes on a life of its own. Having spent life in the shadow of her "perfect" older sister, Ella comes face to face with unexpected challenges. Struggling to be honest, Ella feels love blossom in her heart for Rufus, Terrell's grieving spouse. Narrator Alyssa Bresnahan voices the changes in Ella's thoughts, actions, and words with great emotional depth, making the listener feel a connection to this blooming woman, a woman we all know.
