Publisher Description

Writer and director Bill Myers has won over 40 national and international awards and sold more than four million copies of his books and videos worldwide. In Eli, he creates a fascinating scenario that reaches to the heart of Christian faith. When Conrad Davis crashes his car, he should be dead. Instead, he finds himself in a parallel universe with a single difference from ours-Jesus Christ did not come 2000 years ago! Conrad finds himself in the midst of events surrounding a man named Eli-events that carry strong contemporary echoes of the life of Jesus. Following Eli, Conrad is challenged to accept what he witnesses, just as Christ's apostles must have been challenged. Eli gives a unique twist to a question many people have asked themselves over the past two millennia: How would I react if I lived in the time of Jesus? Richard Ferrone's thoughtful narration captures the true conflict of a man's struggle with the decision to give his life over to Christ.

"Wow, this book was so good....So good I must rate it a "five" and go back and downgrade ALL the other "fives" in my library. Granted, this book is a fantasy/alternate reality take on "The Greatest Story Ever Told", but even so, it's just so incredibly well done. The pacing is perfect, the characters are completely believable. I would recommend this book to ALL Christians as required reading, as I think it provides a much needed, fresh perspective on Jesus Christ's sacrifice, and amazingly enough it is also quite true to the scriptures, all things considered. My hope is that non-Christians will read this book and discover the most important truth of all."

" FIVE STARS! Highly recommended! My brother suggested I read this page-turner several years ago. I did, and have never forgotten how well it was written. I recently stopped in and picked it up at a used book store, as I loaned my copy out years ago, to whom I can't remember! The Scriptural parallels are well written and even if you don't have much knowledge of the Bible, the stories are suspenseful, engaging, and believable. "

" This book really makes one think and contemplate. What would it be like if Jesus came in this era and not over 2k years ago? It may be a book of fiction, but if you were raised in Christianity, it will really give you food for thought :) "

" This isn't a bad book, but I didn't think it was a very good book either. Good idea, but the story moved too fast and it seemed to lack details. I think adapting the Gospel to modern day is a huge endeavor and I applaud the author for trying, but I think I prefer the original. :) "

" Very thought provoking book. I found myself going back through the gospels to compare the stories of Jesus's life to what I was reading in Eli. This book places the setting of Jesus's story in modern day. I now completely "get" why Jesus was so controversial and such a threat to the establishment. "
