"This book is even better, with new characters and subjects added to the world. Eragons' journey to defeat evil has become difficult and even more dangerous than before. Paolini has developed further still as an author, making this book fantastic to read. The beautiful imagery and descriptions of the animals are also a bonus, as well as an in depth knowledge of combat fighting and weapons. The way he presents each character gives the impression that I know their personalities off by heart. A brilliant book."

" Eragon is still very adolescent in his nature, but showing some sign of growth. I have to say that his brother was a better character, but was sad that the odds were never in his favor. Paolini is starting to take the story in a different direction that the Star Wars direction. I think either he realized this or someone was able to point it out to him. Still a very good book. "

" The second book in the Inheritance Cycle finds Eragon and Saphira traveling to Ellesmera to study magic with the elves. There they make several discoveries that will change their lives forever. Roran, Eragon's cousin, attempts to lead the entire village of Carvahall through the Spine and to the safety of Surda when the village is threatened by the Ra'zac. The Varden discover that the Empire knows they are in Surda and is sending an army to attack them. This volume is definitely more exciting than the last. You'll find it hard to wait for the third installment. "

" Picks up right where book 1 left off. A little draggy towards the middle but just as Eragon had to learn, most readers need to learn also, patience is a very important trait to have. "

" A great sequel. Although I didn't always love jumping between two story lines, I did like getting to know other characters better and appreciated the follow up with Eragon's family. I also loved that there were some great surprises at the end to shake things up. I can't wait to start the next book. "
