Once upon a time, in the haunted city of Derry, four boys stood together and did a brave thing. It was something that changed them in ways they could never begin to understand.
Twenty-five years after saving a Down's-syndrome kid from bullies, Beav, Henry, Pete, and Jonesy -- now men with separate lives and separate problems -- reunite in the woods of Maine for their annual hunting trip. But when a stranger stumbles into their camp, disoriented and mumbling something about lights in the sky, chaos erupts. Soon, the four friends are plunged into a horrifying struggle with a creature from another world where their only chance of survival is locked in their shared past -- and in the Dreamcatcher.

"The movie got me interested in reading this book. There were elements of the book that I liked, but the story seemed very drawn out. I also liked the ending concept of the movie better, but this was still a worthwhile read."

“A frenzied, multilayered, every-accelerating nightmare.”
— New York Times Book Review“King supplies enough spooky effects and space aliens to meet his usual quota of weird frissons…There is also a new urgency. In this craftily phantasmagoric story about dreams, telepathy, and extraterrestrials, the emphasis on fear than on the shared will and capacity to survive…Makes for great midnight reading.”
— New York Times“King retains his crown.”
— Guardian (London)“One of his most haunting and suspenseful works to date…proves once again why he is the reigning master of dark fiction…Do not start Dreamcatcher late at night unless you’re prepared to read straight through until daybreak.”
— Barnes & Noble, editorial review" a good vacation book, but it could've been shortened by 200 pages, typical King. I wouldn't put it in my top ten King books. "
— Timothy, 2/17/2014" I could never get past the second chapter. I have never been bored by a book before. I was expecting a Stephen King novel to be better. The sad thing is...I tried reading it three different times and I STILL couldn't get past the first few chapters. So sad. "
— Vassi, 2/14/2014" Good book. The monster in this one a parasite mind-reader. Was hopeing Pete and Beav would........in the end but that would spoil the story. Anyway, Lets move on TYPE OF STORY. "
— Keith, 2/14/2014" My favorite Stephen King novel.... Not his usual writing style, but amazing nevertheless. "
— Kelly-lynn, 2/9/2014" I enjoyed reading this book and watching the story develop. However, the ending was a real let down, after going on such an amazing ride throughout the book. I expected better from SK. "
— Dana, 2/8/2014" I will never, ever read Stephen King again. "
— Stella, 2/5/2014" This one still haunts my me in my nightmares... "
— Leslie, 1/23/2014" Not as good as i thought it would be. "
— Lindy, 1/21/2014" Typical Steven King. Weird, creepy, and mildly entertaining. Like eating bad junk food. Not something you'd like to do all the time, but every once in a while when you just can help yourself..... you gotta do it! "
— Liloredhead, 1/13/2014" Friendship between main characters is what is driving the story at the moment. I'm enjoying the depth at which King strives to develop his characters throughout the story. I'm only 270 pages in. "
— Ben, 10/30/2013" This was a very intriging book with a a grabbing plot and suspenseful storyline. It had very believable characters who were good at heart without coming off as fake. I really liked the plot of the book and "
— Tenaya, 10/18/2013" took me awhile to read cuz i lost the book for about a month. overall it was ok but yet weird with aliens and this fungus? growing everywhere. and pete being immune?? "
— ¿Lôre?, 9/22/2013" The Bronze Horseman "
— Lori, 8/19/2013" So far, one of my favorite books. Although scary in some parts; it also had humour. Ths book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. "
— Katie, 8/6/2013" For some strange reason this book reminds me of the words 'cellar door'. I can't seem to place it. It is either referred to in the book or I must've watched Donnie Darko right after reading it. Anyhow it's not too bad for a Stephen King book, I'm obviously not a fan. "
— La, 7/19/2013" I didn't think it was possible for the movie to be worst than the book... but it was. "
— Allison, 3/7/2013" Very dark (as usual for King) - but riveting. Good sci-fi - some over the top gross. "
