"I really liked this book and ALMOST gave it 5 stars. Where is the 1/2 star when you need it? The writer had these boys pinned down to a T. Anyone who wants to know what a teenage boy is thinking, please read this book!! The characters were great and their personalities were so real. I almost felt like I knew them in HS. It was so nice seeing how guys feel at this age and what they think, why they do what they do. And as well as the girls POV too. Great great story. Glad I picked this one up."

“Readers may be drawn in by the intense sexual tone, and find a well-developed story that will spark reflection on the meaning and strength of peer and romantic relationships.”
— School Library Journal“Burgess demonstrates that he has not forgotten what it is like to be a teenage boy…The boys learn about good relationships both among themselves and with the girls, work through their problems, and accomplish it all without becoming predictable in this new young adult masterpiece.”
— VOYA“Fun, peppy, and unusually frank…Readers of both sexes whose hormones have just begun to simmer will welcome a book that so accurately mirrors their new worldview.”
— Publishers Weekly (starred review)" this book was absolutly hilarious "
— Eric, 2/2/2014" This book was o.k. Exactly that and nothing more. A book about a bunch of whiney teenage boys complaining about sex, or lack there-of and a bratty girl who only gets what she wants. Ugh. The only reason it is getting 2 stars is because some of the things these boys think and do is quite funny and unfortunately true that their minds think that way. "
— Amanda, 1/6/2014" The raunchy language and conversations will cause immediate knee-jerk reactions in both adults and teenagers and the british slang may cause some confusion (fanny means different things in England than it does here in the States). While I am ready to believe that Burgess is depicting a realistic high school scene, what he has created bears little resemblance to my personal high school experience. I thought most of the characters rang true, although I felt I knew Ben and Dino better than Jonathon. I'm not sure how I felt about the resolution, particularly of Ben's plotline, but it's certainly got me thinking. "
— Jennifer, 12/27/2013" Ugh. I do think this is a valuable book for teens in some ways, but I didn't personally like reading it. It made me feel icky!! "
— Laura, 12/20/2013" Amazing. So much controversy surrounded this book when it came out, which is ridiculous. Its a representation of a lot of modern teenagers. Faaaaabity fab "
— Samantha, 12/9/2013" I'm actually pretty surprised by all the negative reviews on this one. I mean, it's not for the squeamish, but I thought it was pretty darn remarkable--especially Burgess's grasp of the teen mind. Spot-on, I'd say. Reads very much like a Zadie Smith (yes, beyond the fact that it's British). "
— Joshua, 12/5/2013" this book is on hold. can't get into it so soon after school's out. "
— Heather, 12/1/2013" when i was reading this book i thought that it was very strong. i like the book is very interesting and it has things that you might want to know if you don't know it.i wouldn't recommend this book to little kids because is too strong. "
— Jewalyna, 10/30/2013" Kind of fun if you enjoy experiencing the teen angst around sex and relationships. The British vernacular is also fun. "
— Lisa, 10/25/2013" British teenagers and sex. each character has his or her own problems and questions. quite interesting. "
— a, 10/15/2013" A frank and honest look at sex that tackles situations that should really be discussed between teenagers and the adults who care about them. "
— Colleen, 9/25/2013" This story is told from the viewpoints of a couple of different teenage boys who are all thinking about girls, women, sex and relationships. It was raw and definitely used British vocabulary and humor. "
— Heidi, 4/23/2013" Funny book...and I sort of love/hate the show "Life as We Know It" that spawned from it "
— Elisa, 4/14/2013" I hate this book because we read it in school in Germany and it's just so gross and ruined my marks... My teacher is so sick .......... "
— Luzia, 11/16/2012" This is a YA book but I would want my two teens reading it. It's all sex from beginning to end. Sure, there's some moral dilemmas and something to be gained by reading it but I think this is more a read for an adult than anyone under 17. "
— Melissa, 8/1/2012" Very well written, great take on emotionally issues around sexuality. Very provocative. For a upper YA Audience. Note the content of this books will make it not suitable for certain readers. "
— Rachel, 7/2/2012" Fun book with good characters. "
— Wally, 3/22/2012" Quite good. I liked how the characters were such a mix of good and bad. "
— Jaslyn, 5/21/2011" Silly book about high school boys looking for a shag. But at the same time it was honest and answered some of the questions teens have probably been asking ever since they discovered sex. "
— Emily, 5/1/2011" Quite good. I liked how the characters were such a mix of good and bad. "
— Jaslyn, 2/17/2011" I listened to this on audio and the narrator was FANTASTIC as was the writing. This was one of the most hilarious books ever, and I had to try really hard not to burst out laughing as I listened on the train. The humor and honesty, and chance to get into boy-world was awesome. One of my new faves! "
— Frankie, 1/29/2011" This story is told from the viewpoints of a couple of different teenage boys who are all thinking about girls, women, sex and relationships. It was raw and definitely used British vocabulary and humor. "
— Heidi, 1/28/2011" It was an okay book, I just never thought I would read something like this. "
— Ryan, 1/7/2011" Well if you are looking for a book filled with sex and teenage heart throb/break, this is the one. "
— Phillippa, 1/4/2011" Contains a few good moments, but overall it's not worthing the time. "
— Emi, 11/29/2010" It seemed funny in the beginning but I quickly got squicked out. I thought a couple of the characters were okay but some of the storylines dragged and a pretty explicit scene with a very young girl in it made me feel uncomfortable. "
