'My watch is running backwards.' Colorado, 1981. The Doctor, Amy, and Rory arrive in Appletown - an idyllic village in the remote American desert where the townsfolk go peacefully about their suburban routines. But when two more strangers arrive, things begin to change. The first is a mad scientist - whose warnings are cut short by an untimely and brutal death. The second is the Doctor....

As death falls from the sky, the Doctor is trapped. The TARDIS is damaged, and the Doctor finds he is living backwards through time. With Amy and Rory being hunted through the suburban streets of the Doctor's own future and getting farther away with every passing second, he must unravel the secrets of Appletown before time runs out....

A thrilling, all-new adventure featuring the Doctor, Amy, and Rory, as played by Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill in the spectacular hit series from BBC Television.

" It was cute. One of the better based off a tv show books I've read. "

" All of the Doctor & Amy books I've read haven't really sounded like them. I think this book has the worst characterisation so far especially how the Doctor talks to Rory, and he sounds like the tenth doctor most of the time anyway. Amy's charaterisation is also quite bad with some of the things she says. Also the Doctor, Amy & Rory are not really in the book very much either so I found it quite disappointing. "

" Timey Wimey stories are the best, and this one was really clever. My only real problem was with Amy and Rory's characterizations - their interaction was a bit off, but not enough to really hurt the story. "

" This is my first Who read. I was entertained throughout, though it did take a few chapters to hook me. It's well-written, given its target audience, and I'd give another Smith novel a try. "

" A fantatsic usage of time being a ball of wibbly wobby timey wimey stuff in this book! a conflict of timelines, a nuclear bomb and killer robots and all written in a brillaint and suprisingly clear way, what more could any scfi fan or whovian want?! a must read!!! "

" Confusing timeline and slow to start. The Doctor, Amy, and Rory all seemed a bit off. A mostly entertaining read, at least. "

" kind of Dr who with shades of the terminator..or a village full of domestic terminators!!..a fun read all the same and a quick one too..dispatched in a couple of hours. "

" Well, this one was a lot different from what I expected it to be. It was a really easy read, and a bit confusing at times. A real downside is the complete lack of character development or even descriptions, which reduced the rating from 5 stars to 3. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Shruti Rao | 9/5/2011

" Light on Amy and Rory, and takes a lil time to get your head wrapped around the visual of it all, but a decent read. The characterization of the Eleventh Doctor didn't seem to sit well in the book. :-/ "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Emmalee Miller | 4/7/2011

" I loved this book. It's a nice complement to the series. It's wonderful to read these while waiting for the Christmas Special and the next season to air on television. "
