About Eric Liddell

Eric Liddell (1902–1945) was a well-known Olympic athlete and missionary of the twentieth century. The inspiring film Chariots of Fire chronicled his decision to withdraw from the 100-meter race in the 1924 Summer Olympics rather than race on a Sunday. His strong religious convictions later led him to follow in his parents’ footsteps, dedicating his life to serve as a missionary in China.
