Disciplines Of A Godly Man has been speaking to the hearts of men for the past 10 years, and it continues to be timeless in its message. Using engaging illustrations, scriptural wisdom, practical suggestions and study questions, Kent Hughes offers a frank biblical discussion on major areas of Christian manhood: family, godliness, leadership, ministry and more. "I love the stories and analogies in this book. It's also really practical; I found myself making a list of things to implement in my own life. This would be a great book to study in a small group setting (one or two chapters a week). Guys, let's not fall into the lazy faith that we see in so many American males today. Our lives should be a shining example of what a disciplined relationship with Jesus Christ looks like."

    — C. William Pollard, Chairman Emeritus, The ServiceMaster Company
  • “To open this book and find someone taking seriously the biblical call of  ‘agonizing to enter the kingdom’ and…boxing and sweating like a champion to get victory over sin is the most refreshing thing I could have set my eyes on.”

    — John Piper, founder, Desiring God Ministries; chancellor, Bethlehem College and Seminary
  • “I enjoyed reading Disciplines of a Godly Man because it challenged my spirit. I highly recommend it to men who are not thin skinned.”

    — Mike Singletary, NFL Hall of Fame Linebacker
  • “Discipline is a subject about which the Scriptures say much—but contemporary authors have been peculiarly silent. Kent Hughes fills a gaping void with this superb volume…If there is a spark of spiritual desire in your soul, this book will surely kindle it into a blazing passion for godly discipline.”

" If you are looking for an excellent tool for your own personal growth, or as a mentoring/discipleship tool, this is it. I use it in mentoring and discipling men. It comes with study and application questions at the end of each chapter. Provides a wonderful, inspirational approach without being too dogmatic. "

" A heartfelt challenge to any man who is serious about serving the Lord with his whole life. I would highly recommend going through this book slowly and going through it with at least one other person. This is not information to be learned but truth to be applied, and that is not something you can do just by skimming through it. "
