“Broadway star, female impersonator, and Tony Award-nominated playwright Charles Busch leads a seasoned group of L.A. Theatre Works regulars over the top in this sweet and sassy spoof of 1950–60s evil glamour queen movies (think Bette Davis or Joan Crawford). ‘Camp’ is the operative word here as the fine character actor Willie Garson and Busch have a wonderful time overplaying a Hollywood power couple from hell. The wife, an over-the-hill film star, decides to end her marriage by any means necessary, including poison. But who will inherit the fortune left behind? Great 1960s suspense-film music and the sounds of an appreciative live audience laughing and gasping throughout give this happily silly piece even more pizzazz.”
