Publisher Description

For fourteen-year-old Lucy Martinez, that moment comes one night during a long road trip with her older brother, Jamie, and his friend Kit. They’re on their way to Phoenix to visit Lucy’s father for spring break, but never quite make it. While driving across northern New Mexico during a blinding rainstorm, their car hits something — an animal, they think. But after backtracking, they find a girl, dead, on the side of the road. With amazing insight and compelling prose, Elise Broach charts a suspenseful journey full of danger, loss, and painful self-discovery. What will happen to the lives of three teenagers who can suddenly no longer pretend innocence?

"i kind of liked this book although it leaves mysteries in the end. like, what happened between Kit and Lucy, and who were the girl's relatives. I think the end kind of explains it but not really. There should be another book about another adventure Lucy, the main character, goes through."

" What kind of person takes jewelry from a dead body? That's the question when Jamie, Kit and Lucy drive across New Mexico on the way to a Spring Break adventure and they hit something on the road. They back up and find a dead girl lying in a ditch. They tell someone, but is that really the right thing to do? Interestingly, this is not just a mystery, but there are two romances heating up in the novel as well. I loved the mystery and the quick chapters that made the action go much faster. The only thing I loathed about this novel was the protagonist, Lucy. Lucy just won't listen to anyone else and has to have everything her own way. Don't you just hate people like this? "

" This book started out eye-catching, from the start of it to where I am now, which is halfway through. The theme of it really gets you hanging on and wanting to turn page after page to see what happens next. Now the plot is something that gives this book it's follow-ability, it always leaves you hanging but at the same time it will give you that answer. "
