Publisher Description

When you've been accused of kidnapping an emperor, and every enforcer in the city wants your head, it's hard to prove yourself an honorable person and even harder to earn an imperial pardon. That doesn't keep Amaranthe Lokdon and her team of outlaws from trying. When athletes start disappearing from the Imperial Games, they may finally have an opportunity to show the emperor that they're on his side. If she and her comrades can get to the bottom of such a public mystery, they're sure to get the credit.

But plans go awry when Amaranthe's own men start plotting against each other, the new ally she'd hoped to acquire tries to turn her in, and her best fighter-and closest friend-disappears. Maybe getting involved wasn't such a good idea after all....

"I liked how Sicarius was not playing a major role in this one. It gave other characters a chance to shine. One thing I am indifferent about are Sicarius and Amaranthe getting together- or the potential of that. For some reason I keep wanting to cheer for Sespian, even though in this one and the last book he isn't really in there. Overall, I really like this series. Can't wait to read the next one."

" I enjoy the books in this series so much! Every time I finish one, I just want to start the next, which is surely the sign of a successful series. I'm so invested in these characters now, I just want to know how everything works out for them! (And of course, their ongoing adventures are always intriguing.) It's no wonder Buroker is so successful! "

" As noted earlier, it's really 3-1/2 stars. This book did have typos in it and that really annoys me (like titled rather than tilted). I know that Lindsay Buroker self-publishes, but her work is SO good, that she has to really work on making sure those things get edited out (I'll volunteer my beta services!!) Slight spoiler: This story seemed to move Sicarius' character along a little quickly. I thought after the exposure to some sort of truth serum drug, he might be more likely to talk about feelings or let emotions show through on his face, but when he kissed her, I nearly dropped my iPad! 0 to 60, boy! " Deadly Games was my favorite of the series thus far. This series is so much fun. The more I read the more I adore Amaranthe. I also loved the development of Sircarius' character. A lot. I plan to write a review on my blog about the series thus far after I finish the short story Ice Cracker II. "

" Much the same as the earlier books. No better, but no worse. It is pleasing to see that they are making progress towards their goal of getting pardoned. It would be too easy for this to drag on indefinitely, which would be tiresome. "

" I have to say I wasn't sure how much better this series could get , because it already is SO GOOD, but WOW. I think I have enjoyed this book more than the first two or the short stories, and that is NOT just because Sicarius gets naked (it might be a small factor though). "
