Philadelphia lawyer Bennie Rosato has her eye focused firmly on the bottom line, especially since she has three dedicated young associates and a very pregnant secretary on her payroll, and she takes a professional risk, charging into a class action lawsuit that could make -- or break -- her career. Never mind that she's never handled anything like this before. Having won nearly every civil and criminal case she's ever tried, the brilliant and unconventional Bennie has the guts, and she'll do what it takes to succeed. Even if that means wearing pantyhose and putting herself on a curse diet.
Then her wallet goes missing. And Bennie's life goes crazy.
It's not just that one of her associates has dyed her hair pink. Or that another's old-world Italian mother gives Bennie the evil eye. But someone posing as the outspoken, blue-eyed, blond attorney is wreaking havoc around town, apparently determined to destroy everything Bennie loves. Only one person can pull off this double deception -- Bennie's identical twin sister, Alice Connelly. But as far as Bennie knows, Alice left Philly long ago and never looked back.
When events escalate into murder, the maverick lawyer realizes that the stakes are far greater than she feared. But Bennie Rosato refuses to be anyone's victim. To find the killer, she'll plunge head-first into a life-and-death investigation that will bring her face-to-face with evil darker yet more familiar than anything before.

"A Rosato & Associates legal mystery novel. Heard this on audio. Enjoyed it very much, as I have Ms. Scottoline's other legal mysteries. In this one, Bennie's twin sister makes a return appearance and causes havoc - nearly killing Bennie's dog, ruining her business and landing her in jail. In the early stages of a class action suit Bennie has taken on, her friend/client is murdered. Bennie has to find Alice (her twin) to save her business and get herself out of hot water, all while trying to solve the murder. A very good story with emotional ties to Bennie's past and enough excitement and danger to keep the plot moving along briskly."
— Cathy (4 out of 5 stars)
" My first Scottoline book. Got me hooked and I went on to read many others, mostly about the various associates at an all female law firm. Great paperback/beach reading - mystery/detective genre. "
— Lynne, 2/20/2014" I enjoy this author and this book was no exception. Good story development and recurring characters. "
— Barb, 2/9/2014" Love all the Scottoline mysteries, in part because of the unusual setting in an all-women law firm in New York. "
— Linda, 1/3/2014" Two Bennies---wow and a navy seal love interest make for a powerful combination in this legal thriller "
— J.W., 12/26/2013" I loved this book. It kept me guessing, then second-guessing, who the killer was until the end. I haven't read many mysteries lately that haven't been predictable, so this was very welcome. I'll definitely be reading (or listening to) more Scottoline. "
— Suzi, 12/23/2013" I'm on a Scottoline diet right now - all Scottoline, all of the time, til I've read them all. "
— Debra, 12/22/2013" I listened to this on CD. This book would have been much better abridged. It was very long and it really didn't need to be. It was a great story, just too long. "
— Sheryl, 12/19/2013" This book was very good to review. Basically a lawyer who is trying to run her practice and her twin sister appears and steals her identity including her credit card. She gets arrested for mistaken identity and noone is able to find the twin. Very good book to read.. "
— Grace, 11/9/2013" Pretty good, but mostly due to the narration. "
— Athena, 10/10/2013" I thought this was a very good book. There were lots of twists and turns that I did not expect and I like to be surprised when I read a book. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery. "
— Shannon, 10/2/2013" Half way through the book and couldn't care less about the characters or even how it might end.... never a good sign.... "
— Jessica, 9/13/2013" I like to read this author for a quick entertaining read--not to thought provoking. Benny's twin sister makes a re-appearance and is up to no good. "
— Sapna, 9/9/2013" somewhat over the top and unbelievable at times, but funny and quirky enough to keep me listening "
— Linda, 5/20/2013" If you can get around the evil twin story aspect this is a good read. "
— Lucy, 4/20/2013" A run of the mill mystery book. Other than the all female law firm there is nothing too unusual about it. It was an easy read and thrilling. Just nothing too out of the ordinary. "
— Jennifer, 2/5/2013" Way to much language! I started, liked the story line, but had to put it down about 75 pages into it. If language doesn't bother you, then it seems like a good story lie, but not for me. "
— Wendy, 8/28/2012" This book seemed a little different for Lisa Scottoline. I was still surprised in the end but it did tend to drag on a little too much. Apparently there is an abridged audio version wo that might be a better option. "
— Candace, 5/24/2012" love the character, need to read the first one first "
— Kathy, 4/28/2012" Only made it to Chapter 3... not as entertaining or interesting as I had hoped. "
— Kristen, 3/17/2012" One of a series about Bennie Rosato and her law firm. A great story unfolds as Bennie battles her own twin. I enjoy how Scottoline incorporates much about herself into the character of Bennie. "
— Lauren, 3/11/2012" Very entertaining. Scottoline books are interesting and her wit is great. "
— Alex, 3/7/2012" This was my first Scottoline book. I like her style. "
— Valeria, 3/2/2012" My 1st read by Lisa scottoline. Loved it! Kept me intrigued to the end..... surprised by the ending. "
— Donna, 1/27/2012" Annoying - Bennie Rosato is annoying "
— Marca, 12/12/2011" I really enjoyed this audiobook! It really held my interest and not until the very end did I figure it out. I would definitely recommend this book! "
— Sherri, 5/26/2011" I'm really enjoying all of Lisa's books. I'm reading them in order and they do build on the characters. Lot's of fun. Fast read. "
— Jean, 5/14/2011" Great Author! Love her humor. "
— Carol, 4/26/2011" An older book in the series...same theme as Look Again, which I just read. Still, I enjoy these mysteries. Lisa Scottoline is a talented tour guide... "
— Marie, 4/9/2011" Audio book. I liked it ok, nothing special. There were a couple of good lines from it, including "Hearing it out loud gave Bennie the creeps. She sipped her coffee but the creeps were still there. Creeps are the only thing that coffee doesn't cure." "
— Wendy, 12/23/2010" Annoying - Bennie Rosato is annoying "
— Marca, 12/20/2010" A totally fluffy beach read kind of book. But I liked it okay. "
— Carol, 11/14/2010" I'm being generous with the 3 stars. There's no way a female law firm would act so airheaded in meetings--that part irritated me some. I thought a lot of the characters needed more depth. "
— Jo, 8/13/2010" This book was pretty good but since I had accidentally read a later book first, it made it kinda tough to really get into it....know what I mean? "
— Terri, 8/12/2010" Good story with a subplot of an evil twin. Bennie Rosato is the owner of a law firm whose main client is murdered. Bennie has three associates at her law firm all of which have their own book in this series. I will be on the look out for them. "
— Rebekkila, 7/30/2010" It was okay. A little slow at first. Definitely like other Scottoline books better than this one. "
— Annette, 7/2/2010" Now this book was an easy read. It was also a very good read. I enjoyed it.

J. Robert Ewbank author "John Wesley, Natural Man, and the 'Isms'" "
— J., 6/19/2010" somewhat over the top and unbelievable at times, but funny and quirky enough to keep me listening "
