Publisher Description

Driving deep into the woods to her husband's cottage with her best friend in tow, Jake knows she has a challenging week ahead of her. Aside from saying goodbye to paved roads and indoor plumbing, Jake bet her husband that she could finish building the cottage porch in only a few days. But as they set to work, they soon realize that they're not alone. Recently escaped from prison and having fled into the woods, Dewey Hooper recognizes Jake the instant he sees her. Her testimony got him sent away for murder years ago and here he can finally exact his revenge. Determined to make payback look like an accident, Dewey hatches a lethal scheme to ensure neither woman returns to Eastport alive.

"I loved this 15th installment of Sarah Graves' Home Repair is Homicide series. Yes, there were certain repeated dramatic devices (ignored threats, misplaced cell phones, where did I put that gun?), but there are enough surprises with lots of action and several separate story lines converging. While there is less actual home repair as compared to some of the other books in this series, Sam appears more often as his loneliness takes him down interesting and dangerous roads. Even Victor returns, adding another level to the adventure. I finished off this book in one sitting, feeling very much like a vested member of the Tiptree family."

" wow, this has one disaster after another, it doesn't stop, and of course no one has a cell phone! And it all happens at once. I like this series, but sometimes having a bad guy after Jake or her family members gets a little tedious. I like it better if she just works on somebody else's disasters. "

" This entry in the Home Repair Is Homicide series is top-notch mystery entertainment at its best. One of the things I like about Sarah Graves' series is that the quality of her entries is consistent, as well as the fact that her characters and sense of place add depth to a plot that is already quite good. This entry is definitely one of her best and has the reader turning pages and reading as fast as possible to find out what is going to happen to Jake, Ellie, Wade, Sam, Bella, and Jacob. This is a very satisfying read. "

" This series is still light, but definitely getting darker with the last few books. This one especially. There were a few loose ends that will probably be tied up in the next book. Not too thrilled by the "ghostly sightings" - just seems out of place in this series. "

" I knew going in this was part of an ongoing series. Still, I felt very much at a disadvantage regarding the numerous main characters and their pasts. Usually the author gives you enough background (and she did give some) to make it possible to pick up in the middle of a series; but in this case it was not enough. In addition the plot was way too unbelievable....catastrophe after catastrophe after catastrophe. I doubt I will look for any of the previous titles in this series. "
