Publisher Description

The bestselling author of Queenie and The Fortune combines brilliant storytelling with a special inside perspective on the theater to create a tantalizing portrayal of the scandalous lives of two celebrated actors and their glittering circle.

Felicia Lisle and Robert Vane—she the Oscar-winning star of the world's greatest epic motion picture, he the greatest English actor—are the perfect couple, until Vane's moody genius and Felicia's private demons begin to tear them apart.

Curtain is an absorbing and highly entertaining novel.

"Another brain twister from Christie. I had just read Murder on the Orient Express and on the back cover it says, "Have you read "Curtain"? It was my last case. And I took it to mean that it was his prior case and now it turns out he dies! That blows! Well, I am sure I have a ton more Poirot books to read before I finish them all. I thought the "curtain" thing meant it was all an act, especially when he said he came back from Egypt "better" than when he left, I thought it was all staged for the killer's benefit. Wrong!"

Quotes

  • “Korda’s latest sweeping melodrama is set in London theaters and Hollywood studios of the 1940s…Korda knows the milieu and keeps the pages turning.”

    — Publishers Weekly
  • “Korda’s tightest, most smoothly written, most tackily distasteful novel, in a lengthening line of tacky tales, and his best ever…it’s riveting, especially Korda’s rich ideas about classical acting and the Vanes’ talents.”

    — Kirkus Reviews
