"This was not just a book for me but a tool that I will use going forward in my crucial conversations both at home and at work. Now that I am done, I will have to go back through my notes and actually practice what I read. And that is what the authors recommend. Skills are taught that are impossible to acquire by simply reading through this book. This will take time, but for me this is worth the journey."

" Reading this book for work; so far it's come to my aid in our most recent "crucial conversation" with our kid's preschool teacher. I find most self-help books to be most helpful in the first hundred pages, and everything after that to be filler. I'm about fifty pages in, so we'll see if that's true here as well. "

" This book deals with handling conversations where the stakes are high, emotions are probably involved and complexities may exist. Book is designed to help you weave your way through these conversations and avoiding the trap of making the other person bad in the process. "

" A painful work book. The basic lesson learned is: breath, listen, think, respond. Too many examples of the same lesson. Why do consultants like this try to make their concept that could be covered in 50 pages 250? "
