In Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa, Erica Silverman introduced a wise-beyond her years red-headed cowgirl and her always inquisitive horse. Their misadventures continue in Horse in the House. Gently nudging his way into Kate's room, Cocoa declares that he no longer wants to live in the barn. The house is much nicer for a horse. So it's up to Kate to convince him that the barn isn't as bad as it may seem. Download and start listening now!

" See Cowgirl Kate's house from Cocoa's point of view. "You could put a lot of oats in that bin! is a common observation. This is a cute series of transitional readers. This story in particular should appeal to both boys and girls who love animals. "

" Cocoa the horse would much rather live in Kate's house...preferably somewhere near the refrigerator. Kate manages to convince him that the barn has some pretty nice qualities as well. "

" A cute story - especially for little girls who like horses. "

" These are great characters. In this one, Cocoa sneaks into the house to see what people "stalls" look like. As always, the book has some good silly parts and ends with a satisfying sigh. "

" This is a great series. I don't know why but the simple text makes me happy. I love that cocoa wants to move inside. Kate has to prove the barn is better. Ok and I love it that the apples are plastic. Nough said. Grades K+ "

" Cute early chapterbook about a little girl and her cowhorse. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Karol | 8/30/2011

" A bit reminiscent of Goldilocks as Cocoa decides he doesn't like the barn and thinks he should live in the house until Kate reminds him about all the wonderful things that make the barn his home. Again, Erica Silverman captures these characters and surrounding perfectly with humor and fun. "

" AR 2.3 Cocoa decides that she wants to live in the house with Cowgirl Kate. Cowgirl Kate's parents are gone for the day and she keeps trying to talk Cocoa out of the house and back into the barn. Pretty comical. Girls who love horses will love this series. "

" No clue why this was nominated for a Geisel. It is not that good. It is not a horrible story, just dull, repetitive storytelling about a cowgirl and her cowhorse. "
