" The drawings in this book are quite fun and the premise is amusing but unbelievable. I haven't seen the movie but suspect it may be better than the book: The town of Chewand swallow has no grocery store since the weather provides three squares a day. There's always plenty of leftovers but there's also quite a mess. And maybe chalk it up to global warming, but one day the weather takes a decided turn for the worse... The illustrations could carry the book without the text, and the text could carry the story without the illustrations which could provide an interesting assignment for your students. But I found the story too silly and never quite successfully suspended my disbelief. For ages 4-8 maybe? "

" I really like this book because it has a great story line, and awesome creative writing! It could also be good to use if were doing a science unit on weather, and you could have the children compare and contrast the real phenomenons. "

" Don't be gready, children! Or you will be in the same situation with people in this picturebook. Things happened to people in the town just like a joke. As we know, no harvest without hard work, so remember only giving can get return! "
