Publisher Description

School is finally over, and Will Carter has (barely) survived his freshman year. Unfortunately, he quickly learns that the summer break he's been craving just might break him. When he and his girlfriend, Abby, part ways, Carter can't help but think his summer is ruined. Things start to look up after he's unexpectedly cast in an independent film opposite the world's biggest tween sensation, Hilary Idaho. With Hollywood knocking on his door, Carter gets a taste of the good life. Suddenly, his small town, friends, and family don't seem as great as they used to. As tends to happen when Carter is around, things spiral out of control, and he begins to fear that he's not the somebody he thinks he is but more the nobody he's pretty sure he always has been. But maybe, with the help of a few friends, he'll start to see things in a whole new light.

"This book was pretty good. Carter Finally Gets It(the first one) was better, but I loved it none the less. I didn't laugh as much, but I still cracked up on some parts. Carter is still same ol' Carter and it's great. He's so goofy, and sometimes I wonder, "is this how teenage boys really think?" Carter tries to play it hardcore but he's such a sensitive guy, it's funny. I love this book and Brent Crawford is a GREAT author."

" Will Carter is back after his adventures in Carter Finally Gets It. This was not nearly so entertaining; some of the situations he finds himself in were not believable at all and I don't think teens will like this one. Will is cast in movie the summer after his freshman year with a major star. He of course hooks up with her before realizing she has alcohol and drug problems; which he unconvicingly helps her to solve. "

" Carter's Big Break is a sequel to the hilarious Carter finally gets it. This time, Carter becomes a movie star with actress Hilary Idaho. Once again there are crazy antics and stupid decisions, alongside some genuinely interesting and serious drama. The jokes in this book are hilarious and will make you laugh out loud. In the end, it feels a bit rushed and the dramatic parts sometimes feel a bit muddled. "

" I laughed just as hard at this one as I did at the first and definitely enjoyed the tweaking of the Disney factory system - Mickey Mouse Club is to the Get-Up Gang as Hilary Idaho is to Hannah Montana. Carter continues to be both lovable and a dumbass - so basically a pretty typical teenage boy. Nick Podehl continues to be awesome. I have yet to listen to something he's narrated and not love it. "

" I love the voice of Carter. It is a great window into the world of a teenage boy. His antics are what make the book so enjoyable. They seemed balanced with his moments of thoughtful reflection. The first in the series still remains the best but this was a nice follow up. "

" Crawford knows how to speak 15-year-old guy. Really, really well. And, as off-putting as that is (for me), I can't help but like Carter, who is, after all, a pretty decent kid. (With a pretty decent story.) "

" Loved listening to Nick Podehl narrate the latest in the Carter books. I especially enjoyed Carter describe the worries that he has, the nontraditional path that he is choosing to pursue. It reminds me of my son who is doing the same! I also love laughing at the scrapes he gets himself into. "
