Peter, a long distance lorry (truck) driver, gives a lift to a 16-year-old hitch-hiker outside of Bristol. As they talk, Peter discovers that John has run away from home after a violent row with his uncle. The police are searching for John, and they want to question him - his uncle has been found dead.
