Broken hearts. Broken promises. Deadly consequences.
In glitzy Lake Tahoe, couples break up every day. But few are as successful as Lindy and Mike Markov, who built
a $200-million business together—before Mike took up with a younger woman. Now he's claiming he doesn't
owe Lindy a dime since they never married.
Attorney Nina Reilly, struggling to make a living in her one-woman office and raise a young son alone, agrees
to take Lindy's case. Nina knows winning is a long shot, even with a brilliant jury consultant and a palimony
expert on her side. It's the kind of case—full of passion and explosive secrets—that could make a fortune for
a young lawyer. Or drive someone to commit murder—for love, money . . . or the right verdict.
New York Times bestselling author Perri O'Shaughnessy has created a wonderfully unique and unpredictable
character in Nina Reilly, a tough, tenderhearted attorney and single mother who has been hailed by critics as
"one of the most interesting heroines in legal thrillers today" (the San Jose Mercury News).

"This was a very good book. Kept my interest from the very beginning. I enjoyed the look into the judicial system. Especially enjoyed the manner in which the jury deliberations were portrayed. Looking forward to the next in the series. "

" Thought this book was kinda corny. If I would have notice it was part of a series, when I was checking out this author I would have started from the beginning. Not sure if I will now, maybe. "
— Janet, 1/15/2014" Finally, venturing off to a new author. Love this lady lawyer character and her love life. Lake Tahoe lawyer, Nina Reillly takes a palimony case that could make her rich or leave her with nothing at all. "
— Barbra, 12/22/2013" I find the Nina Reilly lawyer mysteries pleasant, fast reads. This was one of her most intriguing. Yes, you can see some developments coming, but it's the ones you don't see that make it entertaining! "
— Karen, 12/10/2013" Two books in 30 hours. Hello summer vacation! "
— Vivisection, 9/18/2013" The setting is great, Lake Tahoe. The writing is a bit contrived. I picked this up as a free read in a hotel library. "

— Cindy, 7/4/2013" Again, I listened to this one while driving. I really liked it and I'll listen to the next in the series. Love to "read" about local areas and O'Shaughnessy's plots keep me awake and interested. "
— Debbie, 4/5/2013" I used to love legal thrillers, but the thrill has wore off. Oh, well. O.k. story, just not my thing anymore. "

— Carolyn, 2/12/2013" #4 Nina O'Reilly -- palimony case "
— Pam, 1/9/2013" I generally really enjoy this series, but I found this one highly offensive in the section about jury selection. "
— Rita, 1/2/2013" Pretty good. . .a little case of having to put too much into one book (honestly could have encompassed a few different books) but a pretty good read. "
— Angela, 11/28/2012" This book was just so-so. I have liked this author's books in the past because of the setting....Lake Tahoe...and the legal thriller aspect. The motivation in this one seemed weak and I didn't like the way the main character behaved. "
— Lynn, 11/13/2012" An interesting criminal lawyer read. "
— Katy, 11/12/2011" As always, a real page turner from the start. Lots of detail and intelligent writing. It's easy to "live" these books as one reads them. On to "Acts of Malice" next. I'm hooked on this series! "
— Linda, 6/20/2011" Great boat chase on Lake Tahoe at the end of the story!! "
