Publisher Description

Listen to six half-hour dramas about one of the darkest periods for the First Amendment in American history: the Hollywood blacklist. From 1947 until his death in 1962, screenwriter Gordon Kahn, father of series producer Tony Kahn, was the target of harassment by the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), denunciations by neighbors and friends, and surveillance by the FBI and its chief, J. Edgar Hoover. Kahn could have ended the ordeal by renouncing his leftist views and giving the investigators the names of others to be questioned. Blacklisted tells the story of Gordon Kahn's 15 years of persecution and the fear that followed him, his family, and thousands of other Americans for having - or being accused of having - the wrong political ideas.

All of Kahn's words, and those of his wife Barbara, are drawn from their writings, diaries, and letters. All of Hoover's remarks come from the confidential memos and remarks in the 3,000-page surveillance file he kept on Gordon Kahn from 1944-1962.

"I've found that Luke's books are awesome in the imagery he uses and the images he creates in my mind. I have found them incredible reads, although a bit outside of my romance comfort zone!! I would highly recommend this very strong author's titles."

" I am torn between the stars. Only because I liked the book at first but then it veered off into conspiracy theory and super human men. It reminds me of the Alpha men in women's romance novels so I can't be fair if that is the particular style of this genre. I will admit, I was absolutely blown away by the military knowledge, that was cool, as an ex-Army woman, so I like guns but sometimes it bordered on "die already". If you are a military fan and action junkie with a little "suspend disbelief" then this will rock your world. The plot was interesting and I thought I knew who was behind it all and I was wrong, so I kept reading because I truly wanted to know who was behind it all. Visually stunning, I could absolutely see a Vin Diesel in this part. So if you want the screenplay written, hit me up. "

" As far as action books go this one was just ok. It started out better than it ended. At first it was more of a bad-stuff happens to a kid and he overcomes it. After that it changed into a pretty hokie story line. It would have made a decent 70's or 80's B movie action flick. "

" Suspense filled book, liked the writing style, however, seemed quite unrealistic and story line was too hard to believe. "

" Loved this book! it just gripped me from the very beginning, never read a military style book before but that didn't deter me from loving it. totally appealed to the whole conspiracy theories that I agree with regarding 9/11! "
