"Morgan is an absolutely delightful golden retriever, while Mei is wonderfully coded with subtle autism spectrum characteristics. The first half of the book, with the slow courting and exploration of the initial relationship, is just wonderfully sweet. Without detailed spoilers, let's just say that the second half of this book is quite tonally distinct from the first. We get a closer look at Morgan's relentless positivity, Mei's cozy comfort, and the apparent ease of their relationship. The third act is the weakest part of the book, IMO. But it's still pretty decent, and worth the listen. This is the only book I've listened to narrated by Cindy Kay, but I thought her performance was solid. I might be used to a little broader range of character voice diversity, but it was always crisp and clear."
