There are the small betrayals: the unkind word, the petty lies. And there are the betrayals that break hearts, destroy worlds, and turn the strong sweet light of day into bitter dust.
When Evie Johnson started at Wyldcliffe Abbey School for Young Ladies, her life changed in ways she couldn't possibly have envisioned: the discovery of her link with Lady Agnes, her special bond with Helen and Sarah, and their sisterhood in the astonishing secrets of the Mystic Way. Above all, Evie's love for Sebastian has turned her world upside down.
Now Evie returns to Wyldcliffe for another term and more danger. Surrounded by enemies, she lives every day in fear that Sebastian will fall into the darkness of servitude to the Unconquered Lords. The Wyldcliffe coven is plotting to destroy Evie and use Sebastian to secure their own immortality. Evie and her sisters must master the power of the Talisman before it is too late. But could it be Sebastian himself who will ultimately betray Evie?
In this companion to Gillian Shields's dazzling Immortal, magic and sweeping romance cross the bounds of time to deliver heart-stopping emotion and suspense.

"I simply loved this book so much! I snuck it into my classes and I had everyone try to get my attention on the lesson! A lot of people are saying it's a bad book. That is their opinion. Don't let them hold you back from reading it if you want to read it. Most people say the ending broke their heart, but I was happy with it. I was so happy about it, because there were only two ways left for Sebastian- up or down. I would recommend this book to anyone. I enjoyed reading this book so much. I love both this book and the first one, Immortal. Love this book!!!"

“Beautiful and poignant, Betrayal has all the swoons and sighs of a good Gothic romance—and strong female leads. I enjoyed it even more than Immortal.”
— Melissa Marr, New York Times bestselling author“Fans of Immortal will enjoy discovering the fate of the nefarious headmistress and her minions and will cheer Evie and her friends on to victory.”
— School Library Journal" I was so hoping that this book would be better than the first and I could get into the series.... just didnt happen for me. I found myself trying to force myself to finish it and not get distracted by other things while reading it. Just not a good sign. :'( "

— Belinda, 1/19/2014" I liked these books so much I plan on reading them again. "
— Raina, 12/18/2013" This series is definitely not the best in the seemingly endless line of paranormal teenage romance novels, but it does feature a more realistic and appealing end than many similar novels. Immortal (Book 1) and Betrayal (Book 2) are decent but not spectacular choices for fans of this genre. "
— Tessa, 12/12/2013" This book made me cry. The ending broke my heart. Let me say if you want a happy ending don't read this book. "
— Autumn, 12/10/2013" Exciting book. Had me biting my towards the end! Speaking of the end..the way this book ended, I wouldn't think there'd be another book, but there is. Eternal is waiting for me.. gotta go and read it! "
— Lisa, 12/5/2013" The book was okay I guess, nothing at all special. Too overly corny for me. And I'm a teenage girl. So something is seriuosly wrong there. "

— Zulecia, 2/2/2013" It wasn't as good as the first book but still a good sequel. Parts of it bothered me at times, especially Sebastian's writings. That was just a little too much for me. But overall, a decent read. "

— Noelle, 7/5/2011" I liked this book better than the first one. I think it's because I adjusted to the author's style. Shields is a really good author, I think most people would like her books. The end of Betrayal was really satisfying, I hope she writes more books. "
— Chels, 4/26/2011" I did not like the ending!!! She went through all of that just to sent him to his death and to be with another!!! I don't like that and don't buy it. What girl that much in love would just willing let him go forever!!!! They better get together again in the last book! "
