God’s love has the power to change lives. Christians, then, should exhibit the greatest transformation of all because, rightly understood and cherished, God’s love makes them increasingly more like the One who has lavished his love on them. So why do we so often struggle to exhibit God’s love?Biblical counselor Elyse M. Fitzpatrick asks one simple question: “In your pursuit of godliness, have you left Jesus behind?” We need to be rescued from our “identity amnesia” and pointed to our true identity as God’s beloved children—adopted by the Father, united with the Son, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Fitzpatrick shows how a genuine transformation of identity leads to a transformation of our daily lives. Those who struggle with either legalism or lawlessness will find encouragement to return to God’s love, the source of authentic and lasting change.

"You know when you read a book that is so wise and insightful that you genuinely want the author to be a part of your life? This book is one of those rare gems. Elyse does an excellent job of getting at the heart issues that keep us from growing in Christ rather than prescribing a list of steps or actions. So often we take the gospel for granted, and she reminds us of just how powerful the good news is, and how life-altering it should be. Again and again she focuses our hearts on the amazing truth that "I am more sinful and flawed and than I ever dared believe, more loved and welcomed than I ever dared hope", and how truly understanding the good news of Christ redeeming us frees us from self-improvement mantras to depending on the work of Christ in our hearts and lives as we continually encounter Him."

“Elyse Fitzpatrick has given us a helpful, encouraging, and stimulating book that explores the practical impact of God’s great love for his people in every aspect of Christian living. Her rich insights into God’s revealed truth will certainly equip and inspire Christians to better fulfill their chief end of glorifying and enjoying him forever!”
— Carol J. Ruvolo, author of Grace to Stand Firm, Grace to Grow, and No Other Gospel“The Spirit of God seems to be initiating a widespread recovery of the gospel and its implications. Because He Loves Me is another—and welcome—indication that fresh gospel breezes are blowing. If you love the gospel of Jesus Christ, you’ll love what Elyse Fitzpatrick has written in this book.”
— Donald S. Whitney, Professor of Biblical Spirituality, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; author of Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life“Because He Loves Me will provide hope and a desperately needed supply of ‘spiritual oxygen’ to many Christians who have lost sight of what they have and who they are in Christ and are struggling to live a life they can never live apart from him.”
— Nancy Leigh DeMoss, author; Radio Host, Revive Our Hearts“What Elyse Fitzpatrick has written is inspirational and overflows with practical application that pushes me to take the gospel into the otherwise private corners of my life.”
— Edward T. Welch, Counselor and Faculty Member, Christian Counseling & Education Foundation" Beautiful book about the gospel message and how it impacts our lives. What a joy to get away from the me-ism of works centered "gospel" messages...i.e. Glory Story. It is His work that matters, and His alone. Only because of His love am I able to love and serve others. Sometimes simplicity is the most beautiful. "
— Anita, 2/18/2014" this book is transforming my life right now "
— Stephanie, 2/17/2014" written as "the gospel for believers" this was one of the best books i've read in a long time. "
— Lauren, 2/11/2014" I was disappointed in this audiobook and gave up halfway through. Instead of it being an encouragement to live in the reality of the transforming love of God I found it very condemning. I enjoyed the introduction the most as it was very down to earth and easy to listen to although it was challenging. The narration by Renee Raudman is excellent and had me feeling that I was in an intimate setting, but it was let down by the heavy theology. At times without realising it my mind had wandered off and I'd missed segments of the chapter, it really couldn't keep my attention. I would only recommend this to listeners who come from the same theological background as the author, or maybe someone who is studying this particular subject as there are lots of scripture passages. There are so many better audio books out there that are far more encouraging. Thanks to christianaudio.com Reviewer's Program for this copy. "
— Nicki, 2/2/2014" This book took me around 5 months to slowly read b/c so much was jam packed...it is a good practical working out of living by the gospel paradigm. Overall, I left with a really good understanding of indicatives come before imperatives...in other words, God does not just tell us to do something w/out reminding us who we are and in whose power we accomplish it...and it comes to grips with really living out of who He says I am...excellent book" "
— Wendy, 1/19/2014" Very strong encouragement not to leave Christ behind in our pursuit of godliness. Christ's incarnation, death, and resurrection should always inform our lives, not just when we are new Christians. "
— Marliss, 1/18/2014" I am still reading this, but I have heard enough quoted from it to know that it is excellent. Also, a dear God loving friend recommended it. "
