A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright — a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster. You think I’m talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It’s no deformity, no disease. And I’ll stay this way forever — ruined — unless I can break the spell. Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I’ll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly. " This basically was like an American version of Beauty and The Beast... Basically this is saying don't be full of yourself because things may come to you from the unexpected and also that not to down yourself because there's someone who can see the good side of you even though you don't yourself... "

" I really enjoyed this book. I saw some of the movie and when I found that it was a book I decided to read the book before I re watched the movie. I liked the theme of the book and how the author gave it a modern day edge; teens and even younger kids can be so cruel these days that it was good to see someone get their just desserts. "

" A fairly good book overall. I really enjoyed reading it. It felt a little creepy and forced at times, like Kyle talking to frogs and stuff on a fairy tale creatures IM or whatever. It was a great concept, well written, though it could have been more. A perfect read for the romance loving teen. "

" This was a great book to read. I saw the movie first, which I think is great because the book is way better. I believe when you watch the movie first that its better. Because when you read the book first, you have high expectations for the movie. The book was perfect. Love. "

" I really like Alex Flinn as a young adult author, however when the reader already knows how the story will end because we have all seen Beauty and the Beast, it makes it not quite as fun. I do like the way she modernized the story though and her writing is still very good. "

" This book was amazing. From beginning to end, I could not put the book down. The plot and tweaks from the actual Beauty & the Beast was predictable, but yet so amazing. I am now afraid to watch the movie in fear it may alter my wonderful memories of this book! Love it! "
