Publisher Description

"I read this novel three years ago but it seems longer. A good Cornwell novel about man in mission on war. I love all Bernard Cornwell novels but I think this was the last one read. I guess I need to read more. I enjoyed this novel although I can't specifically recall anything that stands out. Very comparable to A. M. Maughan's Harry of Monmouth."

" I loved this book! It's an incredibly descriptive mixture of historic fact, myth and informed conjecture about what is perhaps the most famous battle in the history of England, Agincourt. "

" This its a fabulous audio book, and an instance where the narrator made all the difference. Not being a great lover of military history I suspect I would not have made it through a print version, but the audio version was full of excitement and the different characters were vivid and well defined. " Loved this book. The pages flew by, good characters, interesting historical details. Am definitely going to check out other books Cromwell has written. "

" While I knew going in that the era of this book was one of violence, the descriptions of the battles (with pikes and swords and maces and battle axes and poleaxes) was horrifying. Following Hook the archer as he madehis way with Henry V's army provided a fascinating look into the times. "

" Well written as all Cornwell's books are. Using a fictional character allows the author to really place you into history. The book is fast paced and I loved learning the historical facts of life and warfare during the time. "

" Bloody, violent, classic Middle English. The tale of an archer, which I learned much about through this story. I'd say a dark beauty. "

" Nothing like a good medieval historical novel to get my juices going. This one is a real page-turner and a fast read. Very graphic in some of the details, of course these were violent times. Bernard Cornwell is quite a story-teller. "
