Rosalind, arguably Shakespeare’s greatest female character, is banished from court and follows her exiled father into the untamed Forest of Arden. Disguised as a man for safety, Rosalind’s great wit and good nature show through her male trappings as she engages with fools and philosophers adrift in the woods and ultimately falls in love.
An LA Theatre Works full-cast performance featuring Lynn Collins as Rosalind, Jeff Gardner as Silvius/Jaques de Boys, Alexis Jacknow as Audrey/Dennis/lords/pages, Stacy Keach as Jaques, James Marsters as Duke Frederick/Duke Senior, André Sogliuzzo as Adam/Charles/others, Summer Spiro as Phebe/Amiens/others, James Waterston as Orlando, Jules Wilcox as Celia, Matthew Wolf as Touchstone/Oliver; directed by Barry Creyton; and recorded in Los Angeles before a live audience at UCLA’s James Bridges Theater in April 2016.

“Chancing upon love and mischief in the fabled Forest of Arden, Lynn Collins and James Waterston—as the irresistible Rosalind and Orlando—romp along with the rest of the LATW ensemble in this spirited version of one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies. Stage and film veteran Stacy Keach takes a nice turn as the gruff and perceptive philosopher Jaques, who performs some of the most famous lines in theater history—“All the world’s a stage . . ." But the scene-stealer in this show may be singer-songwriter Summer Spiro, who contributed and performs a few original tunes for this live production. With its wordplay and classic rhythms, Shakespeare’s work is always a perfect fit for audio drama.”
