Evangeline Stone, a rogue bounty hunter, never asked for a world divided between darkness and light … or the power to die and live again in someone else’s borrowed body. After a murder plot meant to take her out leaves an entire race of shapeshifters nearly extinct, Evy is gnawed by guilt. So when one of the few survivors of the slaughter enlists her aid, she feels duty-bound to help—even though protecting a frail, pregnant shifter is the last thing Evy needs, especially with the world going to hell around her.

Amid weres, halfies, gremlins, vamps—and increasingly outgunned humans—a war for supremacy is brewing. With shifters demanding justice, her superiors desperate to control her, and an assassin on her trail, Evy discovers a horrifying conspiracy. And she may be the only person in the world who can stop it—unless, of course, her own side gets her first.

Listener Opinions

" This book was non-stop action. It only slowed down when it had to and even then it was burning the brakes to get to the next catastrophe hovering in the wings. It was well written and I found myself liking it much more than the first book. It had more depth especially in the main character, Evy. I am really looking forward to the third book! "

" Great follow up to "Three Days to Dead" (one of my favorite books of 2009). Not as fast-paced as the first one, but strong nevertheless. Can't wait for the next one! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Michael | 2/3/2014

" 4.5 Stars. Starts right where the previous one ended and delves into the backstory of the earlier events, revealing some surprising and personal details. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Serena DeNardo | 1/20/2014

" This series is wonderful. Its so graphic, so intense & everything just makes sense. Its so well written that I'm completely lost in the book - instead of being lost in the story...and I believe it all despite the fact that its an unknown world to me. If you like supernatural books that are complex and yet easy to follow with fantastic kick-ass action and a little romance - this series is for you. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Cathy | 12/27/2013

" Nonstop action, just like the first book. The girl, Evy, is a bit young for me to completely relate to (22). Plus she sometimes makes comments or has thoughts that are too sophisticated for a girl of her limited experience and education. And I don't actually care about her first love interest at all. But the new guy, as osprey shifter, was great. I hope to see more from him in the future, but a first-person narrative doesn't really suit much secondary character development. Maybe in a new series? Anyway, the behind the scenes political story is developing nicely and I'm curious to see more about that in the next book, as well as what craziness Meding comes up with to put the time pressure on Evy once again. "

" Kelly, did a perfect job of keeping me interested but school did a better job of keeping me busy... I finally finished it though. I like how she portrayed the relationship between Wyatt and Evy, and also Phin was a great addition to show Evy that her old ways were not very good. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Anika | 12/1/2013

" I like it, wish for more sexy scenes. "

" Another awesome story that had you running around with evie wondering what the hell was going on. Enjoyable though. Will definitely keep up with this series. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Moondance | 11/4/2013

" Evy is still trying to adjust to the body she inhabits after her resurrection. She must come to terms with the deaths of friends, the shift in her relationship with Wyatt and the new alliance she has formed. It seems that everyone wants a piece of Evy. Action packed read! 4 stars "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Linda | 10/24/2013

" If you read the first one just go ahead and read the second because you have to and you will want to. I'm way to old for this genre but I love it. I'm just weird that way. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Ashley Kannenberg | 8/8/2013

" a little slow but of course once the action started it was non stop and can i say wow wyatt was hiding some serious shit i mean crazy cant wait for more "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Michelle | 1/13/2013

" After reading book one (it was wonderful!) I was disapointed with this second book. It just fell short of book one for me. I will read the next in the series in hopes it comes back to it's original glory though. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Amyiw | 7/24/2011

" Definitely better than the first. Would've given it a 4 1/2 but there is still something that didn't get me up to the love level. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Dax | 4/11/2011

" Eh, a tad better than the first but still slightly less than an average good read. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Alexis | 1/6/2011

" Liked the book. Full of action and everything, but Wyatt bugs the heck out of me and I can't like him. It's not for lack of trying either. There's just something about him... anyway, the progression of their relationship turned me off from the book, but I loved almost every moment with Phin. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Darlene | 12/30/2010

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Amanda | 11/17/2010

" Wow, not sure how, but I think this book may have been better than the first. Lots of twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. I love the world Meding has created, the different "dregs", and characters. Phin was a nice addition, and I can't wait to read more! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Anika | 10/8/2010

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Lori | 10/3/2010

" A kick-ass follow-up to Three Days To Dead. The history, back-story, characters, action, chemistry, plot... it all works perfectly and I'm going to go nuts till I can get book 3. "
