"My favorite of the Cadfael Mysteries! A clever story told well. "

" I was excited to delve into a mystery and hopeful that I might discover an author I liked, but ended up a bit disappointed. It seemed like I'd missed something, but I wasn't listening to an abridged book, I simply didn't find the mystery very compelling. It was a well-crafted story, but sat on the surface; the characters didn't really draw me in, and the story didn't seem that interesting. The pace was a bit slow, and I kept waiting for something to happen, but it never really did. I might try another Ellis Peters, but didn't feel inspired to do so right away. "
