" This installation of the Sweet Potato Queens books was hilarious! Conner Browne is talented and fabulous. This book includes great stories about her father. I highly recommend the audio version, as the author reads it and gives a great performance. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Leslie Angel | 2/5/2014

" She makes me laugh. Every now and then I like a dose of good ol' over the top, too much is just about right southern prose. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Darcy | 1/16/2014

" There was one funny story, but it was mostly pretty rambling. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Karen | 1/11/2014

" Found myself laughing out loud. This book is a wonderful easy read. You feel like you have sat down with a friend for lunch and some good times. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Lisa | 1/9/2014

" I love this author. She is so hilarious and REAL. However this book was a bit too old for me. I'm "larva" since I'm under 40 (according to her) so the jokes weren't for my age group. Still, had some good stories in it and she's a great writer. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Lee Ann | 12/29/2013

" Jill Conner Browne is always good for a laugh. As a geiser, it is a fun read. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Regina | 12/17/2013

" I have several complaints about this book. 1.) The Southern "voice" is so over-the-top that it's hard to understand. I'm sure this lady is funny in person, but on paper it just looks like a bunch of ridiculous metaphors. 2.) I like a good rant as much as the next person, but a book chock full of them? Not so much. Come on, you've gotta have a point in there somewhere! 3.) Ease up on the CAPS LOCK for pete's sake! The pages look like the ravings of a 13-year-old girl, not a grown-ass woman! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Sharon | 12/17/2013

" Not the funniest SPQ book, but still good for a few laughs. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Betsy | 6/26/2013

" More like 3.5 stars. Entertaining, if not a little wordy. The narratives really do come alive and I feel like the author could be sitting in the room with me! Laughed out loud at parts of it. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Kathy | 6/11/2013

" Anything with "Sweet Potato Queens" on it has GOT to be terrific. Jill Conner Browne's humor may not be for everyone -- maybe it's just for women and those who love us. Great stuff. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Kelly Ann | 3/4/2013

" I think I was too young to read this one! "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Kelli | 12/5/2012

" This was funny. Sweet Potato Queen books are pretty matter-of-fact, dripping with sarcasm and good old fashioned Southern speak. They tend to be more for an older audience--maybe late 40s and up, but this one was a "what to expect in the future" type story. Good recipes near the end as well. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Ryann | 10/22/2012

" I LOVED this audiobook. And you must get the audiobook instead of reading it yourself. The author does such a great job of reading her book, that it's a performance which really enhances the book. American Thighs is hilarious, endearing, and wonderful. I highly recommend it. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Teechbiz | 10/4/2012
