Elizabeth Camden's heart-stopping historical romances produce enough intrigue to leave listeners breathless. Against the Tide opens in 1890s Boston, where Lydia Pallas' skills as a translator get her noticed by the dashing Alexander Banebridge, who has a trove of documents he can't decipher. The only thing more alarming than the information Lydia culls from these papers is her growing attraction to Bane. But when he draws the ire of dangerous criminals, Lydia must act fast to save the man who's captured her heart.

"This book can definitely go on my 'greatest books of all time' list. There are so many reasons why I love this book, but I'll try to name just a few. One reason is that the main character, Lydia, is tough. She's not someone that gives up. With all of the problems that she has to face, she's still strong. And then we get to Bane... Oh Bane. I was completely immersed in the love story between (view spoiler)[ Lydia and Bane (view spoiler)[ while reading this book. Bane has so many of the ideal qualities in a male fictional character, he's just... wonderful. And the best part about both of them is they aren't perfect! They have flaws. They have had not-perfect lives before the time of this book. Plus the book is enthralling. I felt no desire to do anything but keep reading this book, wanting to see what might happen next. I wholeheartedly give this book five stars, and I recommend this book to literally everyone. (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]"

" This is an author whom I can wholeheartedly recommend. She does her research, on both the historical period and her characters. The writing is well done; the characters are human, lifelike and entertaining. This book does follow the author's previous titles. Read them in order if possible. You will enjoy both the suspense and the romance. "
