Do you prefer the taste of red foods? Do you sleep under your bed? Do you read people’s thoughts? Do you think you’re a vampire? Svetlana Grimm does. And it’s making her transition to sixth grade at Sunny Hill Middle School even more difficult. Things get interesting, though, when Svetlana’s beautiful science teacher, Ms. Larch, begins reading her thoughts. Could Ms. Larch be a vampire, too? But the thrill of finding another of her kind quickly vanishes when strange “accidents” start happening. Svetlana is always the intended victim, and her teacher is always nearby. So if she and Ms. Larch aren’t allies, then that means . . . Sunny Hill Middle School is about to become a very dangerous place for Svetlana Grimm.

"A fun spin on the vampire genre. 6th grader Stephanie, who has just moved AND begun public school, is convinced she's a vampire- and she's convinced her new science teacher is one too, and maybe has found a "kindred soul". Stephanie (who is now going by Svetlana and only wears black) soon finds out that she was wrong- and now, must stop something terrible from happening. A secret society, middle school angst, possible boyfriend, and well written suspense make this a fun read for boys and girls- and the ending is very well done."

— Amel, 2/17/2014" Quick read, good young adult/juvenile story. "
— Melia, 2/10/2014" Stephanie "Svetlana" is sure she is a vampire. She prefers sleeping under her bed and only like to eat red foods. The new science teacher at her new school, Ms. Larch is also a vampire, but not a "good" one like kind neighbor Lenora Bones. Svet gets to the bottom of the mystery of her missing classmates( and why her teacher smells sooo bad) in a story that is part funny, part kitschy and part suspense. I think this fun book will be a bit hit with the 3rd & 4th graders. "
— Marcia, 1/29/2014" This was a cute book for middle school-aged kids. I liked the slightly different spin on the vampire story. "
— Marti, 1/29/2014" Tween lit with a paranormal bent. Much more appropriate than the young adult books my sixth graders keep bringing in. "
— Karenzielinski, 1/14/2014" Cute! I came into this expecting very, very little, and was pleasantly surprised:) "
— Manda, 1/13/2014" 12 year old Svetlana Grimm thinks she's a vampire. But then she meets her new science teacher, who really IS one. It's up to Svetlana to track her down and destroy her since she's destined to be part of a secret society who recognizes and rids the world of Vampires. "

— Melissa, 9/28/2012" This book is really good, but not the best book I've ever read. The plot was wasn't very interesting, and I just didn't want to keep reading. I also think Lewis Harris overdid the whole vampire thing, and it wasn't a book that you can easily stay up rreading all night. "
— Caroline, 9/16/2012" Totally on the vampire bandwagon, but good for younger reads. It does get a bit gross, and though the book says grades 3-6, I'd say 5th grade and up. It won't be in stores until June. "
