Charles Augustus Lindbergh (1902–1974) was an American aviator, inventor, military officer, explorer, and social activist. in 1927 he made a record-breaking solo flight from New York to Paris. He flew fifty combat missions in the Pacific theater during World War II and later became a prize-winning author.
