Publisher Description

The first in Edgar Rice Burrough's Science Fantasy Barsoom series. A Princess of Mars introduces former Civil War captain John Carter, who through mysterious means finds himself on Mars amongst strange and savage alien beings. Gifted with great strength and agility because of his Earthborn heritage, John Carter's first great adventure on Mars sees him fighting against savage Green Martians and the other inhabitants of Barsoom in pursuit and in defence of Dejah Thoris, the beautiful red Martian and the books titular Martian Princess. Full of swordplay and daring feats, this book and subsequent titles are noted as early inspiration by many later science fiction authors including Robert A. Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke, and Ray Bradbury. Narrated by Michael Ward.
