Rosalinda Fitzroy has been asleep for sixty-two years when she is woken by a kiss.
Locked away in the chemically induced slumber of a stasis tube in a forgotten subbasement, sixteen-year-old Rose slept straight through the Dark Times that killed millions and utterly changed the world she knew. Now her parents and her first love are long dead, and Rose—hailed upon her awakening as the long-lost heir to an interplanetary empire—is thrust alone into a future in which she is viewed as either a freak or a threat.
Desperate to put the past behind her and adapt to her new world, Rose finds herself drawn to the boy who kissed her awake, hoping that he can help her to start fresh. But when a deadly danger jeopardizes her fragile new existence, Rose must face the ghosts of her past with open eyes—or be left without any future at all.

"This book was so creepy and tragic at the same time. I loved the characters, the society, her creepy, abusive family. I loved the idea of stass. It seemed like such a real concept. The end seemed a little rushed, and I did want more of her relationships. I wasn't clear on her and Otto or her and Bren, but I kind of liked that it kept the ends loose. When in life do you figure out your emotions so compactly?"

" A very startling and sad book. "
— Rachel, 2/9/2014" I really enjoyed this book. I love the idea of understanding what waking up from a long sleep would entail. I'm kind of looking forward to a sequel! "
— Pksoper, 2/6/2014" Kinda reminded me of Across the Universe. It was a bit weird, not that that is a bad thing but it was kinda awkward, especially the whole Xavier and Rose thing.. "
— Catalina, 2/2/2014" Heartbreaking futuristic story that's sure to entertain. I loved it! Full review to follow "
— Amanda, 1/31/2014" I really enjoyed this one! I love retold fairy tales but frequently you can see what's coming. This one surprised me in several places, and I loved the slightly sci-fi and sinister twists. Sleeping Beauty has a traditional "happy ending," but this doesn't, and I like it the more for it. I might rec it for next year's yuletide, as I'd really like more about Otto and Bren and Rose. "
— Allison, 1/24/2014" This was sad, but really good! I loved it! "
— Sinclair, 1/20/2014" I really enjoyed this book!! It was such a full on journey and didn't turn out at all how I thought it might!! It was a page turner and I found it hard to put down. "
— Kim, 1/9/2014" This was REALLY good! I haven't heard much hype about it, so I'm definitely going to recommend it to my librarian buddies. "
— Jocelyn, 12/22/2013" Enjoyable read about the idea of what happens to someone after they are asleep for decades. Good science fiction read. Enjoyable characters and interesting plot twist. "
— Erinhill, 12/12/2013" How did I miss this book? It was beautifully told.. And made me cry. "
— Rebecca, 12/2/2013" This book will definitely make you think. It was amazing. In the beginning I was a little unsure if this was a kind of book I wanted to keep reading. It is a good thing I did though. "
— Jana, 11/19/2013" This book made me cry... I love the details of emotions then throwing in curveballs you wouldn't even expect! 'Tis worth a 2nd read :) "
— Natasha, 7/1/2013" For a young adult novel, I felt the language my challenge your typical teen. I also thought it would have been helpful to include a dictionary that would define some of the language Sheehan was using for this futuristic society. I definitely did not like the ending and it seemed a bit twisted to me. "
— Angela, 6/23/2013" i loved this! i have actually read this three times over! :D "
— Colby, 6/12/2013" A story unlike any I've read before. Original and haunting. Wondering if there will be any sequels for readers who want to know more about Sarah and Stephano's fates. "
— Charlotte, 11/21/2012" 5 stars are not enough for this book. It was nice, heart wrenching & imaginative. I felt like I was on a roller coaster, certain parts made me so happy then others brought tears to my eyes, then I was so angry I could feel my face getting hot. I loved and enjoyed it so much. A def must read. "
— Kimmerina, 9/26/2012" alot like sleeping beauty . not very good "
— kimberly, 7/27/2012" It's a really good book so far. A long long sleep is something I knew I would get into I soon as I read the cover. So far I already have. I hope I continue to. "
— Ashley, 5/1/2012" I wanted to read this book for while has i like the idea of it. Story was wonderfully written, with a unique mix of modern fairy tale, science fiction and dystopia all rolled up in one tight package, I hope to read much more from this author. "
— Verity, 4/24/2012" I really liked this one. While not a literary masterpiece, it was well-written with interesting plots and well-thought characters. I thought about it for days after reading it in both a fantastical and ethical mindset. A very nice read that was very easy to escape into. "
— Jessie, 12/18/2011" Time travel, sleeping beauty, not quite a dystopia. Solid, enjoyable, but not astonishing. "
— Sarah, 11/5/2011" An interesting reimaging of Sleeping Beauty. At times quite sad with a heroine who gradually finds her strength and feeling of self-worth. "
— Karen, 11/2/2011" The author did a great job at the slow reveal - as a reader you form one opinion, but then it slowly changes as you go through the book. At first you don't even realize you're missing info, or you don't think it's quite so relevant. "
— Jennifer, 10/19/2011" Very touching book. Well written (at least in my opinion). I kinda read it quicky and will need to re-read it again some day. "
— Gavin, 10/19/2011" A story unlike any I've read before. Original and haunting. Wondering if there will be any sequels for readers who want to know more about Sarah and Stephano's fates. "
— Charlotte, 10/8/2011" I probably won't ever read it again, but it was a very thought provoking read. I really liked how Sheehan focused on how things would change over 100 years (language, technology, the world, etc.). I liked the science fiction elements for a fractured fairytale rewrite. "
— Samantha, 10/8/2011" Read half of it. It makes bunnies cry. "
— A, 10/8/2011" i liked it but the story itself was really sad. I won't say anymore read it yourself. "
— Mia, 10/6/2011" A futuristic world where she wakes up after a life time, thankfully she doesn't have 2 boys waiting to fall in love with her! (sorry I am getting tired of that theme these days....)

Can't wait for the sequel. "
