Publisher Description

Sara Crewe, 10 years old, leads a delightful life. Her father, a British officer, provides her with all of the comfort his wealth and charm allow. When he dies, a cold-hearted schoolmistress turns Sara into a drudge. How does she cope?

Sara is unquenchable. Her father taught her that every girl is a princess, rich or poor. That gift, along with grace, spirit, and imagination, give her serenity and puts the fall from riches to rags in perspective.

"Though it was very hard to understand at times, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The whole time I felt like I was actually living with the main character, going through everything that she had to go through right besides her, and that's a big deal when it comes to writing! You want the reader to be able to place themselves inside the story, and the author definitely delivered! So much so, that when I was finally done with this book, I spoke in a different accent for the rest of the night!"

" This is one of my absolute favorite stories of all time. I had seen the movie tons of times but never read the book until recently when I got it for free on my phone from Google. All I can say is I am definitely going to the store to buy this! Sara's story is amazing and I can never get tired of it! It is beautifully written and so descriptive, my heart broke for this little girl and I wish I could be as brave as her. "

" How am I just now adding this? A Little Princess was my FAVORITE when I was a kid. For most of the 3rd grade I just read it over and over. Then I read it some more, but more sporadically. I cry when Captain Crewe comes back and recognizes Sara the Scullery Maid as his daughter EVERY SINGLE TIME. "
