Here is a heartwarming tale of how one dog showed a family the true meaning of Christmas.
Todd, the youngest of four children, has a developmental disability that keeps him at home on the farm with his mother and father. One special holiday season, Todd hears an ad on the radio from a shelter looking for temporary homes for their dogs during the holiday week. When Todd’s parents at last give in to his pleas for this charitable cause, the family is faced with yet another problem: an entire shelter full of dogs needing homes. Using his special charms and gifts of persuasion, Todd encourages his whole community to participate in the “Adopt a Dog for Christmas Program” and, more importantly, teaches his family the true meaning of goodwill.

"What a fantastic book!! I picked it up on a whim at the library and I'm so glad I did. It was a quick read, finished in less than 24 hours. I was so sucked into the story I often found myself laughing, and even crying along with the characters. This was such a good book and so well written, that I continually was asking myself, "are you sure this isn't a real story", but in fact it is fiction. A cute story and a wonderful read for any pet lover."

“Todd may be challenged intellectually, but his emotional abilities shine…Mark Bramhall captures the exuberance of Todd’s love for family and animals, blending it perfectly with the youth’s speech impediment in a way that conveys respect and reality. Bramhall also tunes in to Todd’s father’s pervasive sadness, which has never left him since his tour in Vietnam, during which his own beloved dog died waiting for him to come home. While there are a few tears during this production, there are more smiles of understanding and love, making it a perfect holiday audiobook.”

— Jacee, 2/10/2014" Slow start, but an overall great book. Well written and very sweet. Makes me want to suggest starting the same program at the local shelters near me. "
— Natasha, 2/6/2014" This was a short, easy to read story about a dog and a family. I especially connected with the story because much of the story was told through someone who had loved and lost a pet to the point that he'd decided he didn't want to put himself through that pain again. "
— Barbara, 2/5/2014" Predictable, sometimes unsettling in the level of sentimentality, but if, like me, you love the genre of making room at the inn and discovering the blessings in doing so, then add this sweet to your list. If you're prone to the weepies, then you'll want a box of hankies nearby. "
— Naomi, 2/2/2014" a nice short read for Christmas time "
