Book Three of the Magic Kingdom of Landover Series It all began when the half-able wizard Questor Thews announced that finally he could restore the Court Scribe Abernathy to human form. It was his spell that had turned Abernathy into a Wheaten Terrier—though with hands and able to talk. All went well—until the wizard breathed the magic dust of his spell and suddenly sneezed. Then, where Abernathy had stood, there was only a bottle containing a particularly evil imp. It had been in the collection of Michael Ard Rhi, former King of Landover, now exiled to Earth. Abernathy must now be a part of that collection! High Lord Ben Holiday set forth for Earth, taking his green but beautiful love, Willow, with him. Unfortunately, they were long in returning. And without the soil in which to root as a tree at times, Willow could not long survive. That left it up to Questor Thews to save them. Grimly he set out to seek help, knowing himself to be incompetent. And to make things worse, the imp had escaped and sought the help of the evil witch Nightshade, now back from exile in Faerie. Questor's only idea seemed impossible, but . . .

"Needles n' pins, I tell ya' Needles n' pins! By now, I'm quite fond of Quester Thews (wizard in training) Abernathy (human turned into dog by accident) and, Bunion (Kobold- strange fairy) and love the way Terry has unfolded the character's development. "

" I was introduced to this series because the initial book was a free amazon book. It was a fun series because of the creative world in which it was set. "
— Judi, 1/4/2011" This is my second favorite Magic Kingdom book after Black Unicorn. The story of Quester Thews as he tries to right his own mistakes is charming, funny, and action-filled, and the quest to find Abernathy was equally fun. A great read. "
— Jeff, 12/31/2010" Read the whole series, magical, funny and charming. "
— Willowrowan, 5/21/2010" I first read Terry Brooks when I was in Junior High....He was better than JRR Tolkien to me! fantastic epic story of good vs evil !!! "
— Heather, 4/30/2010" This was the best of the series so far. "
— Chip, 4/4/2010" Third in the three book compilation - and a quick read - a little different than the first two because it involves a trip back to the 'real world' but entertaining none the less. "
— Kellie, 1/15/2010" Fast read. Funny, and I still love Strabo the dragon. "
— Marybeth, 12/29/2009" Questor and Abernathy are two of my favorite characters in the series, and I loved seeing different sides to them as well as some of the others. "
— Christina, 10/22/2009" By the time I'm reading the third book in this series, I am needing a break. The story is still good, but it's time for me to move on to a new author for a while. Too much of a good thing is still too much. "
— Dawn, 10/13/2009" A decent enough book, but again is it not enough to land one ongoing epic without sign of an ending series of books on us without starting another one. "
— David, 10/8/2009" Evil again stalks the Magic Kingdom of Landover and the king has been snatched away...of course I wonder why he keeps "trusting" Questor. To say his spells don't always turn out right is much like saying that bricks seldom fly on their own.

Fun reads, and meant to be fun. "
— Mike, 9/28/2009" I enjoyed the book but not as much as the first two in the series, hence the three instead of a four. It's still great to get to read about all of our favorite characters from the previous books. "
— Stacy, 6/5/2009" This is an easy read, not a lot of thinking required. It's a nice, fun escape story. I read the first two books in this series several years ago and I didn't have any trouble picking up the characters again. "
