— RT Book Reviews" I haven't read anything by this author before. This book is listed as Christian Fiction...it was a Christian book;however, it wasn't overdone with lots of Scripture passages, prayers, etc. like some I've read before. I don't mean that in a negative way (I was a deacon's daughter). From the first page, it sucked me right in. I guess finding an abandoned 4 hour old baby in a field has that effect. One thing I really liked about the book is it didn't have the ending I thought it would. I did guess some things about half way through. This book gave me a "warm, feel good" feeling. "
— Ginger, 2/20/2014" Really liked this book. The story was so intriguing. Kind of weird people, but really good book. I am sad to be done with it - even though I couldn't wait to finish - it's that type of book. "
— Patricia, 2/18/2014" Watch Over Me was a well written book. Sad but worth reading. "
— Laura, 2/16/2014" This is why you should never randomly select a book from the "library recommends" shelf. I found out by the end this book was under the category of Christian romance. And indeed the extreme main characters (an Indian police officer/war vet suffering from PTSD and a granola overweight white pacifist married and living in South Dakota--oh and the deaf, 16-year old needing a new kidney) could have easily come out of any Anita Stansfield book. "
— Sarah, 2/2/2014" A hard read for me. War trauma, death, abandoned baby, adoption, kidney disease, weight and eating disorder issues, and even more. It was, however, well-written, even more than most Christian fiction. Pleased with the read. "
— Jenna, 1/30/2014" Liked this book better than the last one I read by this author. My only complaint would be that she leaves some unanswered questions about some characters, and I guess I prefer to know what happens to all of them. "
— Sandy, 1/18/2014" gritty & real... including messy realities & hardships in life... "
— Laura, 12/30/2013" Christa Parrish writes so beautifully. Who else could take a hippy vegan, a stressed veteran, an abandoned baby, and a sick teenager, and craft such a poignant story? "
— Sarah, 10/27/2013" Heart-breaking & authentic. Well written with characters you can believe in & relate to. "
— Mary, 10/27/2013" Powerful, God does work in mysterious ways. "
— Charmaine, 9/4/2013" Great book, an enjoyable Christian novel without all the "Christianese" "
— Jennifer, 12/3/2012" Wow! What a great book! It's about a couple that foster a child that was found abandoned (hours old) in a field. How this child mends thier torn marriage is amazing! Definately a quick great read! "
— Nicole, 10/14/2012" I liked this book- I could relate to the characters. "
— Coral, 9/12/2012" A quick read about a couple struggling with their marriage after the husband returns from Afghanistan. They foster a baby girl left for dead in the woods. There's mystery, who is the mother? Will the couple make it? A very sweet story. "
— Megan, 10/19/2011" This book mirrored me so well...Very well written. Very emotional "
— Audra, 10/15/2011" Interesting, light read but has stuff to talk about. An abandoned baby mystery, a deaf boy with kidney failure, a vetren dealing with PTSD, growing faith, and relationships. "
— Robbie, 9/28/2011" This was a very thought provoking, gritty, real novel that I heartily enjoyed. "
